I agree with the other 5 star recent reviews. Olga and Fernando were very welcoming and helpful. The room was modern, large enough, well designed and comfortable - there was a little noise from an adjoining room but nothing to disturb a good night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit, good coffee. A perfect place to stay near the river.

We could not have been more happy with our stay at In Patio Guest House. From the moment we walked in until we had to leave, Olga & Fernando made every attempt to make us as comfortable as possible. The rooms are beautifully designed & decorated, the location is perfect, located right in the heart of the historic district, just a short walk from the river side. Each morning a delectable breakfast was served with fresh, local fruits, delicious yogurts, warm croissants and breads, local specialties, fresh squeezed orange juice, and homemade cakes. The hosts, Olga & Fernando, are genuine and warm and willing to go the extra mile to make sure all their guests are satisfied and happy. We had our 15 month old toddler traveling with us & we were blown away at the kindness they showed to him...with everything from the crib bed they set up, to the animal bath set they left him, to the highchair and place setting they deliberately set up each morning for him. We have spent much time traveling through Europe and have to say this was our favorite hotel.

Loved it- we had the stone room, which was spacious and comfortable. The owners were helpful and the situation prefect for seeing Porto on foot. I would love to have seen the other rooms. The place really is a grand design- all 5 rooms designed by an architect, around a couple of derelict granite walls, making great use of the space. The finishing touches were fabulous, with imaginative use of fabrics, rugs etc. I loved our stone sink. The breakfasts were the best and freshest I have had in any B and B. Fantastic yoghurt, local fruit, cheese, hams and sausages. A bread basket with warm bread and croissants, lovely jam and a different home made cake every day. Olga and fernando are charming and helpful. As well as local sightseeing (port houses, Palacio de Bolsa, the river, San Francisco) at walking distance the B and B is 5 minutes from Sao Bento station for trips to the Douro, Braga etc. I would not even be slightly tempted to try anywhere else in Porto

Is it possible to even add anything new to the glowing reviews of the owners or their spectacular establishment? First off - the location is sincerely perfection. It is moments away from the famous Palacio da Bolsa and S. Francisco church. Literally, a five minute walk away from the guest house, is the Ribeira and then the bridge to Gaia to visit the port wine cellars. If you were originally looking to stay at the Intercontinental - you may want to reconsider. Once you visit this beautiful city of Oporto, you will absolutely agree that the InPatio Guest House has the best location for touring. Also, aside from the delicious breakfast and the attentive service, the guest house is immaculate and charming. The interior design of the building has been renovated with great care, style and passion. We have been officially swayed to prefer smaller boutique hotels and guest houses such as InPatio over the larger 5 star hotel chain. Even though we enjoyed Oporto, we fell in love with InPatio and it made our vacation 'up north' truly memorable. After several cold days of touring with uncooperative weather, we couldn't wait to finally return home to our little bedroom oasis each night. Our suggestion - book immediately before someone else does because with only 5 rooms, you may find yourself out of luck and missing out on an incredible opportunity to be treated like family in a foreign city.

InPatio was fabulous. It's hard to believe that for the price they are charging you get such a beautiful and well-appointed room and personal boutique hotel service. The hosts were super helpful, and even noticed from my passport that the next day was going to be my birthday and brought out a little strawberry tart with a candle in it for me at breakfast! And even though breakfast is advertised as at a particular hour, we were leaving on an early train so they had our breakfast ready for us an hour and a half earlier than normal. I would have been ecstatic at a cup of tea and a croissant, but they had a huge tray of all kinds of food. Everyone is right -- the breakfast here is wonderful!!! There is a small luggage lift so you don't have to schlep the bags up stairs. (You do have to walk yourself upstairs.) We were in the cork room on the second floor and the photo of the brown bathroom was the one we had -- looks just like that. Everything was very posh. We never could figure out the towel warmer. This place was just fabulous. Located right in the middle of the historic part of town. Easy walk to train station and river front. You will not regret staying here -- or the money you will likely save by doing so! The hosts were so courteous that they brought the credit card machine down to the lower level breakfast room to check us out because there is a room on the ground floor where the reception desk is and they didn't want to do the check-out there at 7am because there were guests in that room that they were afraid might be sleeping still.

Room Tip: We stayed in the cork room, which was on the second floor. Overlooked the courtyard. Nice and quiet...

We stayed at InPatio Guest House for 3 nights as part of our Portuguese honeymoon. It was very clean, well decorated, perfectly located, and the breakfasts were delicious! Olga and Fernando were such wonderful hosts, paying close attention to detail, and making the stay so very comfortable. They even left us with a honeymoon treat of chocolate, strawberries, and a glass of Port to welcome us! We highly recommend InPatio as a great find (and value) for all ages looking for a stay near the Ribeira district of Porto.

InPatio Guest House is the type of B+B that you dream of stumbling upon, but rarely ever do. Impeccably clean, beautiful rooms with designer furnishing, which are an even greater treat considering the remarkably low prices. The modern bathroom is of a 5-star hotel standard, with complimentary quality skin/bath products. Breakfast is generously sized and delicious- with special extras such as home baked apple cake and freshly squeezed orange juice. To complete this idyllic stay, the owners are discreet, kind and eager to assist, with anything from restaurant suggestions to arranging airport transfers. Well done InPatio Guest House.
