***Fist of all, this place is not located where tripadvisor says. Google maps has it right however.***

After reading a couple reviews of this place we decided to try it out as we were in desperate need of a change from the typical Portuguese food offerings. We were not disappointed. The white sangria made with Spumante sparkling wine was amazing, and the sashimi very fresh and tasty. We live in Vancouver, BC so are used to fresh sushi, this would rate up there with the best we have ever experienced.

The chef/owner made a great effort to come and talk to us and told us some of his back story. He learnt his trade in a top restaurant in Dubai and has clearly honed his skill for Japanese cuisine to perfection. The service in general was fantastic, our lovely waitress was attentive and personable (and cute).

Recommendations:
- sangria
- tempura vegetables
- salmon sashimi
- salmon carpacchio

The pricing is moderate (€13 for a 16 piece combination of sushi) and serving size not huge as is typical with Japanese, but the quality is top notch. We certainly left satisfied, but wishing we could have tried more of the menu.

One of the best meals we had in Portugal, if not our 5 week trip of Europe. This restaurant will be top rated on TA very soon, so get in quick.

This place was a great find. My partner and I were searching for a meal that was lighter and healthier than the dinners we had been consuming across Europe. The place was a little out of the main area but only a ten minute walk. We had a combination plate and salmon carpaccio, both were amazing. It was very fresh and tasty. What was nice that the owner came over to see how everything was. Loved the novelty of sitting in the traditional way on the ground on cushions. (Tables and chairs are also available).

We discovered Kai Kou by chance on our way out for drinks. We showed up without reservations and the owners personally came over to ensure they'd be seat us within ten minutes. Once we were seated the waitress and owner guided us through their menu and helped us pick out unique dishes to try out. Kai Kou's menu isn't typical - it's filled with rolls that you won't find in a standard sushi restaurant and are absolutely delicious. We tried the restaurant's Sangria, another special recipe, which was the best drink we had that night (do try). As for atmosphere, the restaurant was lively and had an energetic vibe. I would recommend the restaurant based on service alone, but combined with the mouth watering food and incredible drinks this is a must visit restaurant.
