Great place, don't get me wrong. But not number one in Porto for us.
Moses, our host is very knowledgeable, with wine and oil information, and a great host who made us feel very welcome. But the chairs are not comfortable (being stools with no back support), and there were not so many spots to sit. Those, however are the only negatives.
The view from Wine Quay Bar is good, out across the Douro River to the south bank.
The food is excellent tapas, and the wine selection is wide and impressive.
We shared a couple of small tables with Steve and Chris from England, who kindly saved us from having to sit looking at a wall - although the seats would have offered better lumbar support!
The two reds suggested after conversation with Moses, were the Dao Vinha Paz 2009 and the Amantis 2007 Reserva - two very different but lovely wines. The whites we started with were also quite different one to the other. The ham was yummy - two different kinds, again suggested by Moses.
We'd go back, but only after trying some other restaurants.
After a couple of meals at exceptional restaurants, we had a hard time understanding how this one could be number one on Trip Advisor. Maybe it's a matter of taste - or of voting!
