Very modern and clean hotel. Very accommodating and friendly staff (especially the manager, Mr. Goncalo Ramos). Also, we probably had the best meal we have ever had in Portugal at the hotel restaurant.

As other have mentioned it is about a 10 minute walk to the Metro and about a 10 ride to the city center. Be sure to have Euro coins as the ticket machine would not accept Visa and Euro notes.

Minor suggestions to the hotel:

1) Parking should be free and included for all hotel guests. I would understand the charge for parking IF you were located in the city center where space is a premium, but the reason many people tend to stay at a non-city center hotel is because they usually almost always include parking.

2) In room WiFi should be free. This is 2014 not 2004.

3) Pool access should be free. Again, even basic hotels have free pool access. This property should as well.

In conclusion, we would definitely stay here again. Many of the city center hotels are older and will have smaller rooms. Don't let the minimal distance deter from you.

A great property which does the Sheraton name proud.

My wife and I had a wonderful 3 night stay.

When you walk into the lobby, you will be silent. It has a bit of the "awe" factor. Very modernist design. Highly impressive.

The General Manager is a lady - Joana Almeida - and one can see her attention to detail.

Reception were very highly professional and helpful. The Front Office Manager Gonçalo Ramos was amazing and went absolutely out of the way to make us feel welcome and patiently answer many questions about Tomar. A real gem of a man and a Sheraton star of the future.

The Breakfast room was like a factory but an extremely well organised one. Coped very well and the waiters and waitresses were on the ball. I told the Manager that in 35 years of staying in 5 star Hotels, I had never seen a busier breakfast room nor one as well managed.

The highlight for us at breakfast was to be able to drink our own fresh orange juice from the juicer. A real thrill. Portugese oranges are highly flavoursome.

We were upgraded (being SPG Gold members could not have hurt!) and had access to their Executive Lounge.

A suggestion: the Executive Lounge might consider offering Vegetarians a bit more choice in their snacks. And, they certainly need to turn the A/c up!

Apart from these two minor hitches, we had a fantastic, memorable stay and again another property worth returning to.

Porto is a charming town, nay, city and there is plenty to do even if one is there for 4 days.

The rooms, cocktail bar, service, all of it first rate. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we set foot on the hotel property. I'm not such a fan of the neighborhood (shopping district) but I'd return to the hotel in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you manage to get upgraded to "club level" it's worth it (floors #10-12)

The rooms are nice and spacious, and overall the hotel leaves a high quality impression. Absence of tea and coffee making facilities in the room is poor however and there is an undercurrent of being charged for every little extra imaginable, although the rooms aren't that expensive for a 5 star hotel. My girlfriend used the spa and was very impressed, the gym is a good size although receives no natural light, and there's several computers with free internet to use adjacent to the reception area. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location for us was okay - basically halfway between the coast and Porto city centre, and we walked everywhere in the city as we are relatively fit and using the metro wasn't necessary apart from travelling to/from the airport (hotel is under 10 minutes walk from Francos metro station). There's a well stocked supermarket and a McDonalds under 10 minutes walk away on Avenida de Boavista.

I'd certainly stay at the hotel again, although I doubt we will do as a 3 night stay in Porto was more than enough in my view to see everything Porto has to offer - must admit we found Porto rather dull and the attractive bits of the city are vastly outnumbered by the rather rundown parts.

This is a beautiful hotel, although not at all near the historic areas, so you will need to take a taxi to see the best areas of the old town. The room was lovely, clean and well maintained, although there were no tea/coffee facilities, which would have been nice late at night when their bar was already shut. We had a slightly difficult experience when a waiter managed to walk backwards into my colleague and put an entire plate of breakfast all over him and his shirt and suit only 2 minutes after arriving in breakfast. They were relatively apologetic, but not at first offering to pay for his breakfast, which was annoying and totally out of order as it was cleaned off the floor. Eventually the lady in charge did step up and sorted out getting the shirt cleaned, but could do nothing about the suit as we were leaving that day and no deduction on the bill was made towards dry cleaning which was not great really. A shame because otherwise it was a nice hotel. Bad point - wifi is not free - just mad these days. The so called "free link@sheraton computers" and wifi in the lobby did not work over 2 days we were there and the paid wifi required you to keep logging in every time your smart phone went to sleep. Good point: the young staff guy in the club lounge was extremely nice, helpful and knowledgeable about Porto and offering good restaurant and wine advice. I am going back to Porto again soon for business and I am still not sure about staying there again.

We've been for a short break in Porto in june 2011 with a friend.
We've decided to visit Portugal and Porto is the ideal destination for 3 or 4 days vacation ; most of all it's an easy destination to flight from Nantes airport and very convenient for that.

Sheraton Spa is a 5 stars hotel modern, zen, and beautiful.
We had the red level club, then our room was on higher level, and we could have breakfast in a club lounge with nice sort of breads, pastries, hot meals and specialities.
As well, for dinner we only have the lounge club break : having a drink or two, tapas, sushis, cheese and mini pastries.
From the balcony we could not see the sea but the tops of the buildings around and great sunsets !!

After visiting the old town, walking around in the day, it's nice to go back to hotel and have a rest ; the spa is luxurous and one of the clenest I've ever seen... What a joy to refresh and swim in the pool and try all the different jacuzzis !

The staff is very polite and hard working and very professionnal.

I've read some people who consider this hotel not very well located in town : indeed it's not at the front beach nor in old town, but I think it's better, because the hotel is in a quiet areat near ambassades and it's great quality and real five stars.

Sheraton brand mark is a reliable value.

A good choice.

Room Tip: Have the red level, plenty of happy hours and greatest view for breakfast and cocktail...

I haven't been to Portugal in almost 19 years and was afraid that I would experience the same problems as before ... language problems, lack of diversity and poor infrastructure. But what I did remember favorably was the genuine friendliness, warmth and hospitality of the portuguese people. After discovering that Porto was named the best European city of 2013, we decided to give Portugal another try. From the first minute that we arrived, we felt that Portuguese hospitality again. Every staff member that we encountered treated us like we were they're special guests. Every question or need was met with extra attention. By the way, Porto was a fantastic city too and a lot of people spoke English too. I would go back there anytime.
