“Avoid the restaurant ..”

First of all this would be an "average" 3.5 star hotel, but this is, by no means a 5 star hotel. 5 star hotels characterize by extra staff and extra service (and extra luxury). NONE of them applies to this place
A hotel where the bellboy puts your bagage in a trolley and then disappears, or where you have to serve your own coffee in the breakfast room, where your breakfast table is hardly cleaned or where from the 5 guys sitting at the reception desk, just 1 of them looks bored at you and eventually listens to you is not a 5 stars hotel.
A special chapter deserves the restaurant, if you like cardboard pizzas (like the ones you can buy frozen for a couple Euros at the supermarket) or ridiculously small and tasteless steaks, then the hotel restaurant is the place to be. If not, I strongly recommend one of the restaurats at the river side or some great place in Matosinhos.
On the bright side of the story. The breakfast choice was more than reasonable, nothing spectacular, but certainly worth of a good 4 star hotel, and the pool & bar on the 15th floor were great. Fantastic view & very friendly staff. A shame that on Sunday they closed at 8 PM, but ok there wasn't really anybody else but us.
The rooms were ok, a bit worn down but decent size, good noise isolation for the windows and a quite clean bathroom.
So, all in all a mixed feeling about this place

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better

We stayed here for a couple of days whilst travelling Portugal. From our arrival we felt we received five star treatment. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. There was a small problem with our booking and this was rectified within a few minutes.Nothing was too much trouble. Travelling as a family (my husband, myself and 16 yr old son) we had a great room. Big enough for three on the ninth floor. We slept soundly and although not a great view out the window we felt it was a good location. We recommend using the secure hotel parking. We left our car here and walked, hired bicycles from the hotel (7€ a day!) or got a taxi (very cheap). We had half board .Breakfast and dinner was buffet style. Food was plentiful and freshly cooked. Fresh food was continually brought from the kitchen. There is a free gym, used by my husband and son. The swimming pool on the roof (15th floor) is also an experience! Bar and lounge are very spacious and welcoming, on the ground floor along with a paper shop (stocking english magazines and papers as well as portuguese) and other shops. Would i stay here again? Of course, we cannot wait to revisit Porto, which was a lovely place and enjoy the HF Ipanema Park experience again!

Room Tip: Do not be put off by the height of the building. Lifts are quiet and quick and you do not feel that...

I've been here twice now. Its incredible value. plus its location is second to none. Its a new building, i beleive its about 5 years old, has 15 floors, with the swimming pool on the 15th floor. What a setting for a swimming pool, with its own bar, bright furniture, sunbeds, and an adequate sized pool.for a dip, inc large complementary bath towels.
When you enter this hotel, its via a huge foyer, which encumbers a huge salon with countless sofas, and comfy armchairs.not forgetting a lovely garden, which is easily accessible. For the individual who forgot to pack their laptop, theres a modern fast speed desktop available near the entrance.Meals are served in a huge dining area, with very affordable prices.

Room Tip: all rooms are ok, dont worry

The hotel is 5 stars but the rooms are exactly the same as the 3 stars HF hotels. The room furniture is old and dirty. The room carpet was full of stains, the pillows were also dirty. When we arrived at the reception the lady told us the room was ready. We went up to the room and found two cleaning ladies cleaning the room in a hurry and arguing with each other. We stayed at a high floor but still we couldn't sleep properly due to the sound of disco music in the nearby. The parking prices of the hotel garage are absurd. When we asked for an invoice at the end the receptionist was rude and very slow. You can easily find in Oporto 3 star hotels ,and lower, that are way better than this one. I will never use this hotel again!

I spent 4 nights here with my teenage son. There is a lovely roof top pool with a bar on the 15th floor with great views. They have live music and DJs up there of an evening, we really enjoyed the singer on the night we went up and we weren't affected by any noise in our room. The lounge bar on the ground floor is comfortable and relaxed. There is a small but well equipped gym and a squash court. I didn't eat in the hotel but the food we saw looked good and quite reasonable. It is in a quiet area but a taxi into Porto was only around 6 euros from the rank outside the hotel - there were also bus stops outside the hotel. There is a lovely beach not far - about 30 mins walk along the sea front. The hop on/hop off bus is a great way to get around - ticket lasts two days and includes a port and boat tour - we used that for getting around and seeing where everything was as it takes you out to the beach and into Porto - just have to make sure you get on it going in the right direction as they are cicular tours! We also found two very good restaurants about 20 mins walk from the hotel. The staff we dealt with were professional and helpful. I would rate the facilities at the hotel as 5* and my room 4* - thats not a negative as it was a nice comfortable clean twin room, it just didn't have the facilites I have had in some 5* rooms - saying that, I didn't pay 5* prices either so I was more than happy with it! The free wifi worked well in the hotel too. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, it was in a good location for beach and Porto and excellent value for money - I would definately stay there again when I visit Porto.

We visited Porto last week and were very happy with the hotel. While some reviews may be negative, I would like all to know that there was nothing to be negative about.

We stayed in a standard Twin room and the room was spacious, clean and had all the features of a 5 star hotel right down to bathrobe and slippers. The breakfast was great, there was something for everyone and the fact that breakfast was served until 11am was a plus for us as were out till late enjoying the Porto night life... The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. No matter what we needed they there ready to help.

The location of the hotel was also great not far from the city centre and main attractions. While there was no metro, there is a bus stop just along from the hotel but taxis were very cheap, around 5-6 euros so split between the two of us was nothing....

The roof top pool is very small but we didn't go there to spend time at the pool. At night it becomes one of Porto's most popular bars and was nice to go at the end of the evening.

The wifi was great, no problems and there were computers for hotel guests to use if they so wished.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay there again if ever in Porto...

Room Tip: We stayed on the 14th floor, which is right below the 15th floor where the roof top bar is located...

A five star hotel for demanding clients.A hotel that connects comfort, a great service, sympathy and quality to a smart choice!Having been for a long time a reference among the hotels of Oporto, the HF Ipanema Park has reinforced its arguments thanks to a recent remodelling process, which has turned it into an extraordinary example of environmental efficiency that is positively reflected in the comfort of its guests.Sophistication is a common aspect between the atmosphere of the rooms and social areas, with an emphasis on the panoramic Top of the Roof bar with a pool and a unique view over the mouth of the River Douro, and the free Wi-Fi Internet available throughout the entire hotel. In such a welcoming and comfortable hotel, only its proximity to the most sophisticated and charming area of the city will convince you to go out.At the Jardim d'Inverno restaurant, both the Portuguese cuisine and the exotic flavours are dressed with the refinement of Chef Agostinho Teixeira. At the Coffee-Shop near the Twin Trees bar, our light meals will surprise you.At the HF Ipanema Park you always have more than you think, for less that you can imagine. ... more   less
