“Wonderful cheese & craft beer experience!”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

I found Mercearia Das Flores on TripAdvisor originally when looking for a place to try craft beer in Portugal. Not only did they serve delicious Sovina beer, but they also had a fabulous menu filled with cheese and meat plates, toasts, sandwiches, pâtés and desserts. Although the menu isn't huge, I felt overwhelmed to make a decision because everything sounded amazing. The two of us opted to share the cured meat and cheese tasting plate, which was served with small warm toasts. We also shared a toast with cheese, piri piri jam and salad and for dessert the sheep's milk cheese with fig syrup. We were not at all disappointed and in fact, if I lived in Porto I would go here all the time -- if not to eat, to browse their lovely selection of local fish pâtés, olives and wine for sale. The service was warm and friendly, as was the interior decor. I suggest visiting Mercearia Das Flores if you want to try some artisan cheeses in Porto and find something better than the over-priced tourist spots!

“Craft beer in Porto...”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

I'd found this place online before we arrived in Porto, drawn to the fact that they serve Porto's local craft beer from the guys at Sovina. They have beer on tap, and you can buy the full range in bottles to take away. The amber and IPA are excellent and well worth a try if you're tired of Superbock and port. As for the food, it's simple and solid fare with salads, fish, local meat and cheese available in a variety of combinations and very inexpensive. Great for a light lunch or something to keep you going if you're walking back up the hill. Don't miss the homemade cakes, we kept dropping in for a slice of the lemon meringue Merangada pie with lavender, and the insanely sweet and sticky almond tart. The team are friendly and will be pleased to welcome you...

“A little gem away from the Tourist Trail”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We visited this wonderful quaint cafe/deli after reading all the excellent reviews here on Tripadvisor, how someone could have a bad experience here is beyond me !. It is away from the Ribeira zone and it is only a 5 minute walk to S.Bento train station.

At Mercearia Das Flores they serve wonderful Portuguese Products and you can also buy a great range of these products from the shop as it is also an upmarket grocery store selling Wine, Cheeses, olive oil etc.

They serve light meals that will suffice for a lunch and a lovely selection of wines by the glass and of course the locally brewed beer Sovina from a small brewery in Porto which my husband enjoyed.

We made a point of visiting this beautiful eatery twice on our 4 day trip as the food and service were just superb and the owner Joana was a pleasure to talk to,

If you like like small quaint eateries that are a world apart from the normal tourist haunts then make the trip to Mercearia Das Flores !

Porto is such a welcoming City and we got a lovely hospitable welcome from this establisment on our first day in this great City, we wish them many years of successful trading as they are passionate about what they do. This is clearly reflected in the decor and the food that they sell

Enjoy your visit

“Beautiful bistro”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

One of the best surprises during the stay in Porto. A beautiful little wine and cheese shop of local (!) products.
Great selection of cheeses, black pork, tinned fish, olives and wines. My personal favorite was the piripiri jam.

Go to have a snack there when in the neighborhood or simply take it to go. Deliciousness guaranteed!

“Ok, but nothing special”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Ok, good tapas-y plates for lunch, don't really understand how it's the 14th best restaurant in Porto, but it's good but there's not a very long menu and really it's just nothing special.
