A lovely location overlooking the sea and an ancient fort at the mouth of the Douro in the suburbs of Porto. If you want a mix of beach and city this is perfect. The room itself was in need of an update, but this is only a 3 star after all and the marble bathroom had everything you could need including a jacuzzi bath.
Pool and sun-deck on the roof, plus a restaurant which I didn't try as there are ample choices of trendy restaurants on the beach below.
A bit of a hike into old Porto, but a bus ride or taxi would be only 10 miutes or so.
If I wanted to relax in Porto I would stay again depsite the basic room.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a sea view

We had two rooms. The first had a very bad smell of sewage. We got transferred to another who allegedly had sea view but the window was small so there wasn't much to see. One day we left a piece of jewellery in the room and it disappeared, after discussions with the management it reappeared in the evening... The garage is difficult to reach by car and the breakfast wasn't impressive. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good, solid 3 star hotel with ambition to become a 4 star. Looks like it was renovated.
Clean, comfortable. Nice bathroom. Beds are very hard, but I liked it. Good food in the bar on the roof top. Nice pool area with sunbeds. Good location: nice area around, possible to do a very long walks along the shore, great views. Lots of restaurants nearby and on the beach.
However there is no single beach where you can lend some sunbeds or umbrellas.

You can take the bus 500 to the city center (close to Aliados).
The bus stops are very close to the hotel. It takes 20 min to get to the center. Better to buy (I had ticket control few times during my stay). There is also a historical tram few minutes walk (down the river) - you can take it to enjoy the river bank.

I definitely recommend for a city trip or to get some sun!

This is a hotel that is perfect if you want to go to the beach, but be close enough to taxi into the city for food, etc (as we did for the Porto Food Tour--totally worth it.) While it was not the most comfortable bed I have ever been in, the view and the rooftop pool was very worth it. Also, the restaurant served up a great mixed fish kebob and wine was cheap! Really can't complain. :)

Room Tip: Definitely enjoyed the sea view over the fort. I say it is worth it. :)

This place is perfect for a getaway. We stayed two night at this hotel and were quite pleased.
The rooftop pool was amazing, and we spent a majority of our time there. There was plenty of places to eat around the hotel, or take a quick 8 Euro cab ride into town.

We really enjoyed our relaxing time here, I would definitely return, or recommend it to anyone.

There were a few downsides though:
WiFi was only free in the lobby or rooftop bar. WiFi in the rooms was ridiculously expensive
No umbrellas @ the pool (I wish they would consider this, it gets quite hot up there!)
Staff was cold on every interaction (getting a drink, lunch, ordering a taxi, checking in, etc...)

Room Tip: The suites had a balcony with sea view, but, if you plan on spending most of the time at the pool, d...

I'm repeating others but that's because it's true: the nice location gives a wonderful view. Plus the room (and bathroom) is clean and well kept. We were in Porto at the time of the jolly Sao Joao festivities, so there was live music in the neighborhood till late, but the bed was so comfy I slept through the night without problem :-) I regret not having the time to try to rooftop swimming pool, it looks very nice. Breakfast is standard, but there is a nice pastry shop nearby with a veranda overlooking the sea. Delicious pasteis de nata.

We stayed here the last weekend of June 2013, having enjoyed our stay in Sept ’12.
The room we requested had a sea view and it was nice to wake up to such a vista in glorious weather – the whole weekend was packed with sunshine and temperatures around 30C.

The location of this 3* hotel makes it a good choice for a short break – especially in summer and if you enjoy being by the sea. The view from the Roof Terrace is fabulous – straight out to sea in one direction, in the other, across the mouth of the River Douro and down the coast towards Espinho.
Breakfast is adequate, with a choice of a few hot things and cold meats, cheese and salads, plus fresh fruit. Espresso coffee available upon request.

Our room was pretty basic really and the bathroom quite small – although we did not party in there too much! Our bed was not that comfortable and there were not tea and coffee facilities in the room, but we stayed in the room so little, this was not much of a concern to us.

The taxi fare into town was around 8 / 10 Euros, or just around the corner, you could catch the old fashioned tram if you prefer a harder ride! The walk along the beach promenade – or along the estuary into town - is just amazing and in the hot climate, we noticed the temperatures a few degrees lower in this location compared to being in the Town.

The one frustrating issue was the Hotel Wi-Fi, where it was free in Reception (sign a form) and free in the bar area (different system). Or, you could pay €1.50 per hour to use Vodaphone Wi-Fi (or a “no brainer” €3.0 per 24 hours). As each of these methods was “Per Device” it all seemed rather complicated and unnecessary..

However, the location of this Hotel makes up for any small niggles and we enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

NB: There is a fabulous restaurant (a Capoeira) right next door and another one just behind (Casa da Foz) the hotel, so you don’t have to go far to enjoy really good food.
