I really like this hotel, the room is modern, clean and spacious for European city hotel.
The location is also great, walking distance to most of the major spots.
It is also close to the train station and bus terminal and was very convenient
since I arrived on the train and left for Nazare by bus.

I would recommend this place for people looking for nice modern hotel in central
location.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Porto and near to the main shopping street. Travelling with metro, and buses is no problem. The hotel is from origin a filmhouse and this theme is at this moment still part of the whole decoration. The rooms are very clean, but there is not very space to hangout your clothes. Also the corridors are not good alluminated. Overall it is a good place to stay in Porto.

We stayed here 3 nights in September and were very satisfied. Actually, I fell in love with the building itself well before we realized our trip to Porto. Ideal location. Rooms are rather small and there is not much space to place your things, so if you are travelling with big luggages, you'd better choose another hotel. Room & bathroom were impeccably clean. Our room on the 5th floor had a great view towards the river, but I have to add that the adjoining building was just being demolished with Bobcats etc. so it can be rather noisy during daytime.
Room & bathroom were impeccably clean. We were satisfied with the breakfast, though the breakfast room may be crowded at times. On the negative side: no hairdryer in the bathroom and no hook to hang your wet coats. All-in-all: very good value for the price. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would be pleased to return.

Let me say, the prices are unbeatable for a modern and chic hotel room in the city and I'd consider staying there again at that sort of cost (although I'd demand a room change). The building itself is beautiful with modern rooms and lobby, and it looks out on a similarly beautiful edifice, the location, city wise, is handy.

As a norm the rooms are really nice, tidy and modern, even if most are in the basement. On the downside, some rooms are suffering from the basement location - I checked in with a number of other family, one whose wallpaper had clearly commenced peeling off some time ago due to mildew, and my own room had a slight stagnant bathroom smell that I'd not like to have endured for more than a night.

The location/neighbourhood is not the prettiest, at least presently, with a few drunks/junks/bums after dark, but we walked down one street and up another to find a really cool couple of bars (e.g. Sushi and Sangria). It could do with some better advice to people wanting to enjoy the surrounding bars or restaurants - we were directed across the square to a couple of bars that looked severe...

Breakfast is lack-lustre and there's a poor flow to the set-up that means a lot of waiting for coffee or toast.

Room Tip: Check rooms for odour or peeling wallpaper

This hotel is centrally located in a small but busy square the main shopping street runs off it,lots of bars and restaurants nearby including the beautiful Majestic Cafe only 300meters away.Rooms functional but simple, corridors a bit dark, breakfast average not enough coffee machines in self service breakfast room. The carpet in our room was bait stained but otherwise very clean
Would recommend this as a good budget hotel.

We visited this 2** hotel for 5 nights in September 2013. It belongs to a series of B&B Hotels in Europe where you can have a pleasant stay at an affordable price: 49,00 euro per room per night and 5,95 euro per person for breakfast. The hotel is ideally located in the city centre in walking distance from the Douro, the Bus Station, the Train Station en several metro lines. There is a direct metro connection with Porto’s Airport, whereas a taxi costs 18 – 26 euro. At Praça da Batalha, where the hotel is situated, several bus and train connections come together. Even the Hop-on-Hop-off busses (very recommendable) leave from that place. The hotel has its own parking and wifi is for free.
Entering the hotel you go downstairs to the reception and upstairs to a large lounge and the first guestrooms. Check in went very smoothly, but be aware that you have to pay in advance. The staff in all areas is generally very friendly and helpful. As there is no fridge in the rooms, you can leave your stuff at the reception to put it in theirs.
Through dimly lit corridors you go to your room. The poor lighting should probably give the impression that the building was formerly a cinema, but it is really quite unpleasant. You do not recognize people you meet. Rooms are rather large but basic with a large double bed with two good mattresses, soft pillows and a side table at each side. The TV is a joke: too small and no major foreign channels. As said, the rooms do not have a fridge neither a mini-bar, but an excellent air-conditioner. Ours (room 104) made too much noise, but when we reported this to the staff it was repaired the same day. Rooms are very well soundproofed and there is textile floor coverings (not the most hygienic and anti-allergic). There is hardly any room to store your clothes what is very impractical. The bathroom has a washstand, a toilet, a hairdryer and an excellent shower in an semi-open shower cubicle with a very good anti-slip floor. A safety grip would be nice. There is only liquid soap/showergel/shampoo, all in one. Towels were changed every day.
The cold breakfast buffet is quite good with several kinds of small rolls, toasted bread, sweets, several kinds of yoghurt, fruit, jams, meat and cheese products, coffee/tea, etc. After 8.30 hrs. it mostly is very busy, and as the coffee machine works very slowly you can have to wait for some time. As most of the days were very sunny, we had breakfast outside.
All in all, the hotel is very recommendable, with a good price/quality ratio.
Tip 1: visit Abadia restaurant, Rue Atteneu Comercial do Porto 22/24 where you can have an excellent meal in a great ambiance at a reasonable price.
Tip 2: visit Guimaraes, one of the most agrreable little cities; cultural capital of 2012.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews on this site and the tips were correct!
As recommended in some other reviews, we did not opt for the breakfast, but there's plenty of outdoor breakfast opportunities! This hotel is very well located! We stayed here at the beginning of our round trip in Portugal and returned at the end. So, we had 2 different rooms.
Bed as well as bathroom is of fine quality. We even took pictures of the bathroom to inspire our architect! I would just add a showerdoor, to avoid wet bathroom floor.
