For nostalgic reasons, we wanted grilled sardines.
Strolling through the city, this restaurant all in black and white, looked inviting enough to enter.
Two times 'croquetas' were ordered as an entree. They were cheap, looked dreadfull, tasted mediocre, and were oh so very small.
One basic salad with tasty onions, tomatoes and other greens, was ordered as a side dish.
Two large portions of sardines, very well prepared, were accompanied by some big potatoe chunks. They looked watery and thus, were not eaten.
I tried a dessert, said to be French and turned out to be a very firm, ordinary caramel flan.
A bottle of house wine was the only white that they wanted to serve us.
Coffee was superbly good.

Four old guys, over, or about retirement age, did the service. Can you imagine how? ....
A somewhat younger chap, the boss? was hurrying them up from time to time. Their flegmatic reaction was fun to watch....
Is this a charity for older men, to earn a little more to their small pension? In that case it is a well deserved institution, haha.
And the bill was supercheap: 39€ for two. Bottle of water was complimentary.

While eating we saw another couple eating a interesting dish, which after googeling turned out to be a Francesinha sandwich, their speciality.

The best in Porto, say a panel of gourmets. So this is what we should have ordered in this restaurant, bagger ....

It is supposed to be a place with a lot of tradition, but it turns out to be a poor representative of Portuguese food, or any kind of food, for that matter. The fish was not fresh, and some dishes were cold when they arrived at the table.

Is the feeling you get after visiting the place that boasts about inventing the Francesinha. Less-than-average food, rude and sometimes even disrespectful employees. Not coming back for sure.
