Owner description: Clérigos Tower is the foremost undisputed landmark of Porto and a reference in the city's history. Clérigos Tower opened its doors in 1763, becoming the highest bell tower of Portugal, with over 75 metres. In 1753 the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni was invited to design and build this magnificent Heritage, considered National Monument since 1910. The famous church was built in the eighteenth century, between 1732 and 1749 and this was the most emblematic work of the architect Nicolau Nasoni. Is one of the most beautiful temples of baroque feature, and a reference in the history of Porto. The Exhibitions allow to discover the history of the Brotherhood of Clérigos, admire pieces from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, in painting, furniture, jewellery and vestment collections. Christus collection, on the 3 floor, is a trip through time and space where art and religion complement each other.

“Up and Up!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

Only for those that are not scared of heights and don't mind a bit of climbing. I confess I was a bit reluctant to go to the highest floor as the stair case doesn't look very safe, but the views from it are amazing!! Worth every breath! Cheap entrance fee and you can also visit the adjacent church

“Nice”

It is the clock tower of the church. Next to a very nice park. In the other corner of the park you can find the Livraria Lello (library Lello)

“Fun, and great views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

If you're not afraid of heights, this tower has wonderful views of Porto! Climbing all the stairs to get to the top was an adventure all on its own. Towards the top they are steep, and extremely narrow. The tower is taller than it seems from outside! Once you reach the landings you can walk all the way around to see the city from different vantage points.

“A nice climb for a nice view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

If you like climbing stairs, you'll be happy! This is quite a climb, but the views you get are worth the while. Be careful with the timetable, for they close in the middle of the day, sometimes. Ideal to share with the Lello bookshop, which is very close. Try not to do this spot after a long walk, it will be tiresome. Better start with it.

“Take a picture then move on”

A neat looking tower but nothing special. I did not go inside but it didn't look like much to me and not my favorite stop while in Porto.
