Stunning baroque interior with amazing carvings. Having said that, I can't help feeling that the good Lord would rather have seen such money spent on the needy and poor. Never mind, it pulls the tourists in these days and has to be rated a 'must see' sight in Porto. Catacombs are mildly interesting.

They say there is over 450 lbs of gold in the interiors of the church. A gothic exterior from the 1300's, and the interior is amazingly ornate. Of note is the carved family tree of Jesus.

...baroque interior is the high point of this church, and worth the combo ticket (church museum and catacombs) entry fee. The ossuary will delight kids. It is just around the corner from the Bolsa (Stock Exchange) building. One can visit SF while waiting for one's Bolsa tour to start.

The blurb says that there is 450lbs of gold used as decoration, mainly gilded onto wood. It looks like it has not been cleaned in 500 years. It looked grubby and the catacombs that are also included in the 3.50 Euro ticket price are disappointing Just coffins with people's names on them.

From the outside it looks just like another regular church, and it's odd that they charge you to come in. Once you do, it makes sense: the detail of the wood carvings covered with gold, the statues, the altar piece... absolutely chin-dropping! By this time you don't even remember how much did the entrance cost. The ticket also includes a visit to the museum and catacombs.
