Visited the Igreja de Santa Clara two days ago. Had a little troube locating it as it is tucked back from the road. Upon entering the church I was caught off guard by it's beauty. The incredible detail and colour is definately worth a visit. This church should be on everyone's Porto's must see list.

We visited on a Sunday morning, when a service was on, so it was standing room only.
The interior is very ornate, with gold being the primary colour!
Truly a magnificent interior, hat belies the exterior.

A hidden church near the Sé Cathedral that is a very well kept-secret of Porto. It's painted in gold on the inside which make it quite unique!

The church is not visible from the street but it is worth seeing the wooden panels.

to get inside (if the door is closed) you need to turn the handle. I was there with no one else but one local praying old lady - that gave the church even more charm. The wooden carved baroque decor is breathtaking! Amazing how creative people were at those ages! One can spend hours by just looking at every little detail and admiring the atmosphere in the church.
