The collection consists of a diversity of art pieces of which not all of them were my cup of tea but were intriguing to look at. The museum and gardens offer a great way to spend your afternoon a little outside of the city center.

We visited this museum during the free entrance sunday morning. Exhibitions space, building and gardens are kept in very good condition. Its a lot of space and light inside but the biggest advantage of this museum is quality of presented art. Visit in this museum was one of the best experiences in Porto:)

Six of us went but the rating and opinion s strictly mine. There were three featured exhibitions, one of Maplethorpe photographs, one of Anish Kapoor small scale models in one large room inside the museum and one large installation outside, and a one room exhibit in the otherwise empty villa. The grounds of the property were large and pleasant to walk through, but not enticing enough to sacrifice spending time elsewhere in Porto. The location is also a bit far from the main Porto and Gaia sights.

We love art museums and gardens, so we felt we should not miss the Museu Serralves. I was disappointed with the current exhibits. Perhaps it was just bad timing. The park area was a lovely and interesting though, and I would imagine that in the Spring, it would be fantastic.

No warning that most of the museum was closed for renovation. Outdoor sculptures underwhelming. Art Deco house was unfurnished. Gardens beautiful but I didn't go to a modern art museum to walk in a park. I'd skip it until they finish. Also, a message to management. Furnish the art deco house with appropriate furniture so there is some context for the house. Poor curating.
