“Art and nature delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

The good: Although it is a bit out of the way from the major attractions in Porto it is worth the visit. We took the tram #1 in the morning and walked along the beach side before heading up to the museum and park. After being out in the sun the park is welcoming you with shadowed paths and different settings around each corner. Art sculptures of different periods are displayed across the park, there is a farm with animals and a garden (which is taken care off by kids from local preschools). If you are feeling hungry the museum itself offers a lunch buffet or you can make your way to the tea house in the park that offers a small variety of smaller meals with a very good quality. The museum has a small collection and an equally sized exhibition space. It is not a very huge museum but still enjoyable as you won't leave it exhausted from too much art work.

The bad: The museum has a very contemporary layout thus is a bit confusing how to walk through it without getting lost despite the small size of the building. The Serralves Villa was unfortunately closed; make sure to check updates before your visit.

The conclusion: If art and nature are on your top things to do and see during your vacation this is the place to go. The exhibitions are just the right size to not get tired out from too much art. The park is very well taken care off, contains different areas to walk along and enjoy the cool breeze on a hot day and review the art displayed, there is a lake, fountains, a herb garden and a farm (certainly a bonus for families with kids). All in all a visit will make for a nice relaxed afternoon away from the busy tourist areas.

“Nice Sunday stroll for anyone ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2014 via mobile

The gardens were lovely. I really liked the fact that they had live animals (bulls, chickens, geese and even a horse) as it brought a different perspective. The garden Aldo has a edible vegetable section which is maintained by school kids.

Visually, there wasn't anything spectacular, but you can enjoy the scenery in a leisurely fashion.

The modern art museum was great, and they had some very interesting exhibitions there. The food in the restaurant buffe was also good. We briefly visited the cafe as well, but the staff were really inattentive so we ended leaving before we even got our menus.

Worth a visit!

“If you are in the area Sunday mornings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014 via mobile

Admission is waived until 13:30 so it's not a bad way to spend a few hours. For the regular admission fee of 8.5 euros definitely not great bang for the buck. The museum content varies but was really scant in July 2014. The gardens are nice especially the small lake at the far end of the site.

“Lovely Gardens”

Well worth a visit, most beautiful gardens. I spent my first afternoon in Porto visiting the Garden as it was just 20min walk from my hotel. I like photography and the camera certainly loved these gardens
