Description: On the first floor of a historical site in Porto's downtown, recently opened a small quiet restaurant, called Camafeu. Go back to the times where you had a meal at your grandparent's place, where the decor was romantic but eclectic and where you can indulge yourself on mouth-watering but not-pretentious food.At dinner time, you are invited to stay for a late drink and enjoy, through the big windows, the scenery of the square bellow (Praca Carlos Alberto, named after our late King). We invite you to try the tender Sirloin steak or the Duck with figg jam, or the Prawn porridge among other fabulous appetizers and main-courses. Everybody will love our home-made desserts. Don't forget to ask for the famous Portuguese wine from the Douro region, either it's Port, White or Red.

We found this place accidently.
I could say " lucky bastards", two great spots in Porto found accidently. Both close to our hotel (Casa do Conto)
And it was such a great evening!!!
One can feel like at your favourite granma's home. Welcomed :)
Food was excellent. Service-the highest class. And the atmosphere and interior!.. Mmmmmm!...
Everything was the best! :))

Had a hard time finding this place as the tripadvisor map was a bit off. It's actually upstairs via a door with a teeny tiny sign and is next to Andor Violeta.

The decor is rather feminine and quite romantic, great place for couples. It's set up to be cosy, rather than to take advantage of the views - which isn't a criticism.

The service was great, though they were having a problem with their eftpos machine and our neighbouring table made quite a scene when asked if they could pay cash. The guy was being a real jerk and the poor staff did the best they could.

The food and wine were great, the scallops I had for an entree were beautifully cooked (ie: nice caramelisation and barely cooked through) - can't fault it.

Porto has so many restarants and cafes (many of them just so-so) and we wanted something authentic and above average. So we turned to Trip Advisor for a suggestion. Camafeu had been highly rated by previous Trip Advisor reviewers and was an easy walk from our hotel (Eurostar das Artes) and despite its upstairs location and minimal street signage it was easy enough to find. It was well worth the effort. We were early so the restaurant was not busy when we arrived and the service was warm and attentive. Camafeu has a nice relaxed and intimate ambience. There was a nice range of local produce on the menu and my wife pronounced her green salad the best she had had in nearly four weeks of travelling in Spain and Portugal. Very tasty main courses and with a half bottle of Douro red wine total cost of 52 euros which we thought was outstanding value for two.

This restaurant was wonderful, located behind a blue door with hardly any advertisements you would probably miss it if you were not looking. Situated in a former antique shop the restaurant was furnished with delightful pieces created an intimate dining experience. The waiting staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was amazing from the simple bread and butter to the more extravagant Portuguese cuisine. If you visit Camafeu you will not be disappointed!

The room was intimate, well lighted and enough space between the tables for privacy.
The food was well presented, though the veal carpaccio with rocket salad was fairly tasteless, the parmesan was the only taste that came through. However the veal fillet in puff pastry with cheese and spinach sauce was delicious. My wife had a pasta in pesto which was ordinary. The desserts were delicious. We would certainly go again, but be more careful in our food choices.
