The place delivers what it promises. Great food with fresh ingredients, still be aware that every day you can only choose from to possibilities (one fish or one meat). Very down to earth. The service is really nice. If you want to feel at home away from home this is the place to go.

This little sparkler, if you like personal and quirky restaurants is the one for you. With only about thirty covers the place buzzes. We visited twice and were more than pleased with our evenings spent with them.Run by mum (who cooks)and two twin daughters this is a place that serves really good no nonsence and inexpensive and interesting local food that you could imagine served in a Portugese home.
If you are looking for a menu don't as there isn't one, when you arrive you will be offered a starter of whatever is available that evening and more than likely be taken into the kitchen by Mother so that she can show you what she is cooking that evening. Lots of fun especially the fact that Mother can't speak English and if like us you can't speak Portugese, but does not stop her.
She chats away ten to the dozen, who cares if you cannot understand her she is so lively and that alone is an experience. The first time we visited we had fo a main course her fish stew which was full of flavour and nicely cooked. The second time the four of us visited three had Linquado a flat fish and one a T bone steak again well cooked and tasty. The wine we chose as we so often do was an inexpensive Portugese red that was served in a caraffe, medium bodied and quite fruityI think if I tell you we consumed two litres you'll get the idea not to mention the glasses of port which is supplied exclusivley to them. The wine and port here, is again, amazingly inexpensive compared to the UK.
The service was, as you may now have realised very friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending a visit if you want a relaxed, informal, and value for money dining experience.

The food is hometaste and fantastic. The location is in the wonderfull old part of Town, surrounded of wonderful sightseeings, inclusive at the terrace of the restaurant. The family that runs the business are very helpfull and sympathic. Great value - 4 persons is around 50 €.

Stumbled upon this little restaurant whilst wandering the back streets of Porto when heading down to the river front.

We arrived at 12:45 and they were already busy with the local office worker lunch crowd. This is obviously the local canteen for many wanting good quality home cooked food at very reasonable prices.

We were not disappointed. Not conversant in Portuguese (but the 2 daughters who run the front of house do speak good English) told my wife to come to the kitchen and their mother will show what's on the lunch menu.

We decided to have a half portion of each which was cod with rice in a broth and marinaded porc ribs with salad and home made chips. Plus some cod fritters. A quick half of beer and half a liter of the house red and another portion of ribs because they were so good polished off with an expression came to 13.60 euros for the 2 of us!!!

This is a lunchtime restaurant not to miss, it's not posh but real wholesome good cooked food.
