Wow. What a place. Whether you're just a visitor or an architect or (more appropriately) an engineer, this hotel is a delight, and a work of some genius. It's not easy to insert a modern design in a period property and do so with Béton Brut is a laudable achievement but one one that fits with Northern Portugal and they seem to do so well. The staff are exemplary in their helpfulness, the breakfast is magnificent (all fresh, all tasty and all just the start needed for the day - crepes right our of the pan included. The rooms are elegant, simple and comfortable; the beds are huge and the showers warm and powerful. Not the most inexpensive place to stay but well-worth the cost, and right around the corner from Casa Da Musica. What's not to like

Room Tip: Just go, and enjoy. There's nothing amiss about this place

We were already excited when booked this hotel, and from the very first moment when the host opened the doors, everything was beyond our expectations.
Service- like greeting old friends or members of family. Warm, friendly and helpful.
Breakfast-fresh baked croissants were melting in mouth, sweet local fruits and good coffee. A perfect morning!
Hotel and room interior is WOW.
Bed was so comfortable and big, we even though 'maybe stay in for whole day'.. :)
Location is good, easy to find where to park car near hotel and only some ten mins from the Oporto Art District and other touristic places.
Everything was excellent!
I highly suggest to stay in Casa do Conto to feel the unique atmosphere.

The staff is great, the rooms are beatifull, big and confortable.

The design is fantastic and the breakfast is great.

The location is a bit far frim the city centre but you have a subway station at a 5 minutes walking distance.

We have been in Casa do Conto five nights, our fiends four nights, we all loved the design of the rooms, the bed was OK, pillows very firm/hard, the bathrooms on all three floors are not good at all, insufficient lighting, no space to put your accessory and slippery floor. We all had problem to use the mirror in the bathroom, you can not see you self properly and there is no other mirror in the room. The suite on the 3th floor has very little space for your clothes, if you stay longer it is a real problem, the fridge is a classical kitchen fridge and it makes a lot of noise, so we had to turn it of and there is a night table just on one side of the bed, which is not very practical.
As I read in some of the reviews that the rooms to the street are noisy, I was thinking that the rooms facing the garden will be quiet, but there is street traffic as well and if you are a long sleeper, then count with that the strong ringing of bells from the church nearby will certainly wake you up, so the rooms facing the garden are not really quiet, the doors to the rooms are done the way that you hear also almost everything from the corridor and the staircase.
To all of us happened that our room was not cleaned up, during the stay of 4 days twice in our friends room and to the rest of us once, explanation was that there is a outsourcing company doing the cleaning only between 11am and 2pm, but our friends left the hotel both times already at noon, I read this complain in some previous review as well and the hotel should maybe do something with it, this is not acceptable.
Tito at the reception is nice and friendly, but as I have been already in many hotels in Portugal, I must say that I have never been disappointed by the reception services.
The location of Casa do Conto is not the best in town, but it would not be a problem if the hotel would be quiet and the rooms/bathrooms more use friendly and comfortable, because those are the most important aspects when you stay in a hotel for more than one night.
I love design, but it is much better if you can combine it with comfort.

We loved the design of the room, and this was the best thing at the hotel.
We had a very short stay at Casa do Conto as our plane back home was leaving very early in the morning. The only problem was that we both forgot to take earplugs, and could hardly sleep: the room gives in the street, and until abou 2AM we heard two or three cars every minute pass by in front of our windows. You would hear them come from afar, accelerate, bump into some kind of metallic detail right next to the hotel, and accelerate again... Plus, the staircase is made of concrete, which means that you hear every step made on the staircase from the ground floor and up, very loudly and with a hint of an echo. If you have earplugs or a room facing into the garden, you should be fine though.

The hotel itself is a bit away from the center with little public transport nearby; since we stayed only one night, it was just a nice 15 minute walk, no big deal.

After trawling through an endless number of hotels I stumbled across the Casa do Conto guesthouse. The reviews were very encouraging and I booked up. Finding the residence was not straightfoward as there is no sign outside but it added to the excitement. Tito greeted us and sat with us for 20 minutes explaining the 'must do' sights of Porto. Tito had also upgraded us and we had one of the suites overlooking the garden. The room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast outstanding. Although it is located 15 minutes walk from the centre of town the metro is 2 minutes walk away and it's a quick hop into the city. I would highly recommend the Casa do Conto

This is a boutique hotel that has a tragic story with a happy ending. The building is a complete rebuild of the original house with a heavy modernist style. The location is a little less central and definitely away from the beaten tourist track (the track is beaten not the tourist). The place is Architectural Digest stylish and the reception has a stack of publications featuring the hotel.

Room size extremely generous - we stayed on the first floor at the back an had the benefit of a sunroom off the bedroom with a small kitchen area. Bathrooms are a new construction in the middle of the room behind the bed. Bed was very comfortable and the linens of great quality.

Breakfast is in the lower ground floor and opens up onto a long (but narrow) garden. An ideal location for a summer's evening.

My one disappointment was being charged for using the Nespresso capsules in the room.

If you are in Porto definitely seek it out.
