We visited ODE on the last night of our short stay in Porto and it was a fantastic end to our trip. It really is an experience, more than just a meal; it is very different to other restaurants. The owner is extremely welcoming and clearly very passionate and enthusiastic about what he does, which is lovely to see. He explains where all the food for the appetizers is sourced from in Portugal, even showing us on a map. The bread, oils, butter and olives that we had were amazing, much better than we had experienced elsewhere - a good sign for the rest of the meal!
The menu is very select with only 4 main courses, allowing ODE to provide amazing quality. I could not decide between 2 of the main courses so the owner helped to recommend. My partner had the fillet steak, and I had the black pork. We both said the meals were one of the best we've ever had! Absolutely delicious, amazing flavours and beautifully presented. The owner also helped to recommend wine by the glass to accompany the meal. For dessert we shared the chocolate volcano with nearby tangerine glacier - this is absolutely amazing! If you got to ODE you must try it. We enjoyed this accompanied by a glass of ODE ruby port which was also delicious and matched the dessert really well.
The restaurant itself it beautifully designed and decorated. The downstairs communal table is an interesting start to the meal before being seated in the upstairs dining room, which has a wonderful ambience and views of the river. Overall, I would really recommend eating here. We found it to be slightly more expensive than the other restaurants we had eaten in nearby, but completely worth it! I could not fault the food or the service at all, and we will definitely return on our next trip to Porto. Amazing!
