nice and pleasant hotel, with proximaty to the center of the city very nice design and perfect breakfest which makes you feel very nice for the whole day, close to center, not far there is a restaurant - not the best one but nice to have a glass of wine and have a simple food ( by the way portions are rather big). Place is recommended

This is a comfortable, roomy hotel and strikes me as well maintained .The desk staff is very nice and tolerant and I want to thank them for their graciousness when I accidentally knocked the power out in my room at 4 in the morning(that was an adventure). The hotel is across the street from a supemarket which is good( although they have a check out lady there who could use some serious attitude adjustment. She seemed bound and determined to give people a hard time, unecessarily.Weird character).I should add the immediate neighborhood is kind of weird. There is a building foundation and part of a structural skeleton next door that looks like it was abandoned years ago. Many of the buildings right around the hotel are abandoned and there is another very strange building next door that appears to be a courtyard surrounded by small residences. It was kind of interesting watching it from above. That said , you are right near the subway and if it's not raining, everything is in walking distance.I should add the hotel is delightfully quiet.

Walking Distance to everything in Porto, otherwise if you prefer the Metro it is also close
Easy Metro to and from the airport (1.80 Euro Z4 Zone 4 + 0.5 to purchase travel card)
Hotel only has free wifi in the lobby, or 5Euro cost in the room
Offers Tours: we booked our hop on hop off red bus at the reception, only thing to note for the port tasting, 2/3 port houses are closed on Sunday. would have been nice to be informed by the hotel staff.
Breakfast was a good variety and the staff in the breakfast area prompt and kept the area clean, clearing dirty plates as soon as they were finished.
We were 4 friends on a weekend trip, in a junior suite.. not sure if the word suite is appropriate... expect 2 single beds pushed together in bed room, a sofa single and a pullout bed in the lounge room.
TV was decent in the lounge room, there is a pointless tv in the bedroom, way too small in size to bother watching.
the inroom safe requires a key from the front desk unlike regular code safes.
Free computer in the foyer was handy to check the metro's to the airport after asking the hotel staff and being told it came every 20 minutes but them not actaully knowing the exact timetabled arrival.
FYI Departures from the airport is 6 past the hour and 36.
Departures to the airport 26 past and 56, every 30 minutes. Check Porto timetables online.
Overall a decent hotel which is in a good location for those wanting to walk and explore Porto

The Vila Galé Porto is a modern high-rise 4-star establishment, situated just NE of the city centre, but close enough for easy access to all the attractions Porto has to offer. Close to the Campo 24 Agosto Metro station (on a direct line from the airport), it adjoins a small urban park area.
Our room on the 17th floor offered a great view across the rooftops west to the mouth of the River Douro; it was spacious, spotless, tasteful and well-appointed, with a table and two chairs, ample desk space, accessible electric sockets, and full-length mirrors. TV channels include BBC World, Sky News and CNN.
The breakfast buffet deserves a special mention: it was exceptional, the groaning tables constantly replenished with everything that guests from any country might want, from Bucks Fizz to baked beans (though with the hotel being popular with large coach parties, it can be a bit of a beargarden at times).
The imposing maroon and black reception area sports huge b&w blow-ups of Hollywood stars. Staff are friendly and efficient. However, we could have done without the obtrusive electro-musak in the lifts - and watch out for the lift doors, they shut very quickly!
Finally, there’s a Pingo Doce supermarket just across the road – convenient for provisions - as well as a good local restaurant, Triunfante 2.
Not the place, then, if you’re looking for a small, quirky boutique hotel; but if you value the reliability that a large-scale operation brings, and fancy some luxury at a relatively modest price, we would definitely recommend the Vila Galé Porto.

Room Tip: Get a room on as high a floor as possible!

Close to center (30 minutes walking), big room, nice furniture, windows don't provide enough soundproofing even when you stay on a higher floor. The air conditioning is quite noisy.

Breafast room is big and breakfast is ok.

Parking is 7.5 EUR/day which is ok. There are 5 free parking places in front of the hotel but chances to get them available are reduced.

The spa (including indoor pool) entrance is 11 EUR (plus 3 EUR the robe and 1 EUR shower cap, both mandatory), which is quite much.

Ok if you stay here just for business.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room, there is a lot of traffic around the hotel.

The hotel is alright, not great but good enough if you are staying in Porto for a couple of days. We had taken a twin bed room in the fifth floor. No complaints about the room. Strangely there was no kettle, tea/coffee bags in the room and no water was provided either. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, so no complaints. Our package did not include complimentary breakfast but we did try the breakfast there. Costs 10 euros but the spread is very good. We are vegetarians and luckily we found quite some options as well. The bar is good and the service was quite impressive. The restaurant closes pretty early - around 10ish and there are not many restaurants around as well. So its wise not to plan for a late dinner at the hotel. And as few members have mentioned the lack of wifi in the room was a pain.

Location wise it was alright. I guess we were lucky as we did not meet any weirdos while returning late in the night. The area is not well lit and you have to walk through a park to get to the hotel. As I mentioned we were lucky as some members have mentioned the area to be un-safe. There is a metro station very close to the hotel and you can get to the Airport and major train stations very quickly.

Overall would rate the hotel good.. A 3.5 out of 5.
