“Nice Hotel. NIce Views of Porto Too.”
Reviewed April 4, 2011

This is a very good hotel for a weekend break in Porto. It is easy to reach from the airport by taxi for approx 20 Euros or you can jump on the metro for around 1-2 euros to Campo 24 Agosto. Both take 20-30 minutes. The hotel is the tallest building in the immediate vicinity so is easy to spot from the metro station.

We arrived early in the day so could not check in straight away but were able to leave our bags at the hotel. The receptionist also gave us a map and directions for a stroll into town. Check in later was quick and easy.
The rooms are spacious and spotless with comfy beds. If I was being picky I'd say that the shower was not powerful enough but it did the job. We were on the 10th floor and had a great view across the city and out to sea.

Some people have commented on the hotel being in a dodgy area. Whilst the area around the hotel is not particularly pleasant (empty shops, office buildings etc), it never felt dangerous or threatening. There is a taxi rank a few yards from the hotel and the staff will also order taxis for you from reception.

There is a bar opposite reception that is ideal for a beer/port before setting off to town for the evening.

Breakfast was good with loads of choice including hot food, cold meat, cheese, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, tea, coffee and, of course, sparkling wine!

Ideal for a short stay. If I come back to Porto I'll stay here again.

Room Tip: 3 metro stops from Estádio do Dragão (Porto fc)

On November 2010, I and 35 persons from my job visited Portugal. We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The hotel is old and ugly . Outside looks like a factory. The area around ( the nights) is dark and dangerous. Inside the hotel is not dirty but the icon of the lobby and the rooms is old fashion and poor. Breakfast is OK

Hotel is nice but I got shocked by few things.
First was that they charge you for using hotel pool. OK, they say it is spa zone pool but shouldn't **** hotel have it's pool for all guests?
Also the have only 2 floors for non smokers. Lucky for us it was December and not many guests so we got room on one of those floors.
Food was good, service also and we had great view from 11th floor. Location is OK since it is close to metro station where 4 of 5 lines pass.
So all in all, I recommend it.

The first time I saw the hotel, I was disappointed, from the outside it looks old. The inside (reception and rooms) are completely different, so don't get fooled. It is all clean and well maintained. The view from the windows is nice, I stayed in one of the top floors and was able to see the city and the river. The location is not the best though, and the entrance for pedestrians is through two buildings so I wouldn't recommend walking alone at night. I used the car entrance when coming back at the end of the day. In general it is a good place to stay, specially if you have a car.

This hotel was in a good location, within walking distance to the old town and right next to a metro station. The only downside was that the hotel overlooked a square where young locals hung out at night. The room was great for what we needed. We had a junior suite so there was plenty of room for my husband and I and our two young children. The hotel although little dated was clean and the staff were helpful. Despite what has been said in other reviews I think the breakfast selection was good. The bar although a little strangely furnished (a bit like a working mens club down one end) was great for us as it was big enough to take our two young children into without disturbing the other customers. The price we paid was a bargain considering the location and facilities etc.

This hotel is near the old town but is somewhat dated. Our room was adequate and clean but nothing special and looked down on a courtyard where local teens hung out. The bar is direct from 1970, dark and dreary somewhat like the hotel in general.

Hi, I have been there with my father for a night travelling from London and there is nothing I can complain of.
- Location: metro station is just 5 minutes away
- Excellent breakfast, large room paid just €90
- Staff was very helpful, especially a guy called Mario

I read a couple of bad reviews about this place so I would like to say that:
- internet price is now reduced to €2 an hour
- extra pillows available
- no smell of cigarettes at all
- Sauna and swimming pool €10 for a day

I definitely recommend this place
