“Great hotel, excelent area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

Just returned from Porto where me and my wife stayed at Hotel Dom Henrique.
The hotel show a good standard of cleanliness through all areas, great rooms (1106) fantastic bar/restaurant on the 17th floor with an outstanding view and very professional and friendly staff
The location is great for exploring the downtownof the city
A fairly choice of food/drink at breakfast time as well
We recommend this hotel highly.

Spent five nights as part of an organised tour. Location very handy for the Metro. Hotel decor dated and room needed an update. The biggest down side was the breakfast. Not a massive selection but each day they couldn't keep it replenished fast enough for the number of guests. Nice bar on the 17th floor and a helpful barman. Didn't eat in the rooftop restaurant but other guests said it was good although service slow. Others also had maintenance problems and hotel seems to need a bit of money spent on renovation. Disappointing for a supposed four star

Not really a 4 stars good looking hotel but just nice for the price you pay. Nothing wrong anyhow, 20 minutes away from the airport (27 euros night fare) and just beside from the metro station. 20 minute walking distance from the center. Breakfast is good and abundant, restaurant at the 17th floor is nice also for a relaxing beer before dinner. Rooms are good and clean, TV is old style but there is also international channels (few). I think is worth the pay you pay specially for business purpose.

The hotel is not as nice as the star rating would make you assume, but there isn't really anything wrong with it either. It is a little outdated, but everything worked just fine. The room was sufficient size and had a bath tub which I always enjoy. The breakfast was fine, some items were not filled very fast, but this could've been due to the large French tourist group that all had breakfast at the same time with me. The restaurant at the 17th floor is really nice with an outstanding view, but the terrace was quite small, so not that many people could enjoy the view not through a window. The hotel is situated near the central Trindade metro station, easy to arrive from the airport by metro, but it's not really most centrally situated regarding the historical centre of the town. It's a 15 minute stroll to the river banks. All in all, a comfortable stay, but not outstanding in any way.

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. It is about an 8-min walk slightly uphill from Trindade Metro Station. When you exit the metro station, do not cross the road, turn 180 degrees, face the metro station's main entrance, look up and you will see the tallest building at the backdrop of the metro station and that is the Dom Henrique Hotel. Our room came with free wifi (we paid Euros 153 including taxes and breakfasts for 2 nights). The room and bathroom are spacious, fitted with regular stuff. However, no kettle was provided in the room for guests to make hot beverages after a tired day of sight-seeing. It is located within 10-mins' walk to major sights and about 15-mins' walk to the 50-minute Cruise of The Bridges (€10 per pax) along Douro River, where you see the breathtaking city and find out why Porto is famed for its many bridges.

Just back from a weeks stay at this hotel.

The hotel is located a little away from the main area but is within walking distance of some of the major attractions and benefits from being extremely close to the Trindade Metro Station giving excellent public transport connections.

Yes the hotel is a little on the dated side and is overdue a modernisation but the rooms are of a good size, the beds large and comfortable and well equiped bathrooms, the housekeeping was also of a good standard.

The staff as a whole were very helpful and friendly, although in the bar a little on the slow side. As we did not eat in the main restaurant I can't comment on this but the breakfast was of a typical European standard and more than adequate.

My only real complaint about the hotel is that in this day and age the practice of charging €22 for a weeks WiFi for one device is no longer acceptable and this should really be provided as standard.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room to benefit from the views

Great service and friendly staff. Good breakfast and an amazing view from restaurant/ bar. Old carpet is not appealing. Wifi should be free.
