Very good hotel, on the Ribiera of Porto. Comfortable bed in a small room, but the size was no issue. Very clean rain shower in a clean bathroom. Good view across the river from the room. Plenty of TV channels in many languages for the evening. Only niggle was that the Wi-Fi signal wasn't that strong in the room. Friendly staff at check in, asking if my journey was ok. Took a while to check out due to the only receptionist being on the phone to another customer, but that was neither the hotels or the staff members fault.

The location was a bit of a walk from the main Metro station in Porto (Trindade), but wasn't an unreasonable distance.

One of the better hotels I've stayed in, and one of the better prices I've paid!

Let's start with the plus points;

Hotel is perfectly located, being close to the city centre and public transport stations as well as the bridge which takes you to the opposite side (nova de gaia)

Hotel decor is modern and to a relatively high quality.

Free wifi provided (even though they use an annoying authentication system)

Breakfast was also very good and offered an adequate selection.

The only negative points are that the standard rooms are relatively small - moreover we were given a room with an interconnecting door with the adjacent room - even though this was locked, we could easily hear each others' conversations

moreover sleep comfort was disrupted due to the poor quality of the pillows in the rooms.

Finally i must add that the staff were very helpful, especially Pedro (if i remember correctly) the receptionist, who served as our trip planner, carefully explaining everything there is to see and do during our stay.

overall recommended but do try and get a room upgrade

Positives were
Very good hotel with clean, stylish and modern design
Central location near to the river, bars and restaurants
comfy beds
good view from my second room
staff excellent

Negatives were
thin wall in my first room so could hear the people in the other room
gym did not have any air conditioning so even in Jan it was very hot
pillows were average

Room Tip: Go for the more expensive rooms - worth the upgrade.

The window and walls are sound proof but the door and the ceiling are not. I could hear people walking and talking outside clearly as well as someone's taking a shower right above me in the night. For a 4 star hotel here I would expect more. There's no kettle or any coffee facility in the room and if you ask for some hot water they charge you 10 euros. Even the toilet was not cleaned. (there's no brush in the toilet so we couldn't clean it ourselves) We are staying here for 2 nights and when we were back from our day trip today we found the toilet was obviously not cleaned!!!

This modern hotel is in a perfect location close to the river in the Ribeira district. There is a bus stop a 2 minute walk from the hotel and a metro station a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The river is less than a minute away. The hotel looks very nice from the inside and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very modern but small and the lack of a shower door means that you bathroom is flooded after each shower. Internet is free but they use a very annoying system with 10 digit passwords and 8 digit codes that are valid for 24 hours in theory but a lot of times I had to go back to reception to get new ones. A lot of people have complained about this and they still have not changed it so far so they will probably keep on using this system. The one elevator is very slow and you're better of taking the stairs. They are major roadworks in front of the hotel until October 2013 but our room had an additional window so the noise was not too bad. Wardrobe too small. Breakfast can be expensive when it's not included in the room price. Luckily there is a very good breakfast place (Rocihna) just around the corner (right when you come out of the hotel and right again towards the river). Restaurant Mercado (left when you come out of the hotel and across the big square, red orange building) is a cheaper alternative for dinner. The next time in Porto we will take a less fancy and cheaper hotel with bigger rooms. I give it a four out of five because of the location. Price quality is average.

Room Tip: If you can afford it take a superior room
