“Tourist trap”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

The place is very well decorated and the desserts are very good and well served in terms of quantity. We were looking for a place to drink, and went to this place, as recommend by our travel guide. When we arrived, there were few people on the place, by the waitress made us move to a table next to the counter. In addition, we had to make some effort to get attention from the waiters and one of the waitresses said that people who were having dinner had preference over us. I think this was kind of rude. So, if you're going to have dinner and don't mind if the service is a little slow, perhaps you'll have a good time. We were looking for a place to have some beers and chat, and felt a little bit disparaged because we were not having a complete meal.

“Very individual harmony of style and feeling”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

After many idler experiences with local kitchen in Spain and Portugal we decided to ask for an advice from locals and they pointed out this spot. It's just few meters away from popular streets with tourists but offers adorable price for a good food. Even we got there a bit after 2 PM food was still delicious (try to get there no later than 3 PM because you'll stay hungry!). Not luxury but for the budget of backpackers it's perfect. And this retro pro-ironic interior is very special though not hi-end stylish nor with an individual idea. It's very cozy and homey. We went there two days in a row for a lunch that you get in pretty big portions. Staff was a bit distracted but very welcoming, attentional and nice. When we get back to Porto (what definitely is going to happen) we will come back there for sure. Highly recommended!

“A great place to spend an evening”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

We had a great night at Galeria de Paris. For sure, the food was not the best we've ever had, but it wasn't bad either, and prices were very reasonable. The main attraction though was the atmosphere and the buzz created by a happy crowd of mostly local people, many just having a drink and listening to the live jazz music. The room itself has a really eclectic display of memorabilia, so you have plenty to look at while waiting for food to arrive.

“Nice restaurant in Porto”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

We were 4 to dine at Galeria de Paris. The décor reminds us of the "good old days". There are old cameras, old typewriters... The menu is difficult to read as the light is very dim. The service was good. Our waitress was Brazilian doing her master degree in Portugal. The food was good. There was a pianist who was very good.

“Tourist trap - cheap food but not tasty!”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Funky setting, full of large tour bus groups, average buffet with watery salad. Not too bad for the price but really not very good quality food - reminiscent of school days! If you’re interested to sit and admire the oddities and collectibles that cover the restaurant's walls then have the cake and coffee (much better flavours than the food). Think it would be a really cool place to have a drink in the evening and listen to live music though.
