This was by far the best hostel during our trip in Portugal. The staff is friendly, there are a lot of shared area's (kitchen, balkony, garden, bar, computer/game room, living room, corridors with seats, hall with seats) and there's a bar!!! How great is that! We'd really enjoy our stay in this hostel. Our room had a balkony with 2 chears on it. You can cook in the kitchen or join the hostels meal (one thing: they didn't cook by them self but ordered a take away meal for us - i don't like that actually). But all the rest: GOOD!!! you should go there!

We joined the free tour with a local (www.panchotours.com). This was defenitly the best tour I've had. They take you to all the important things in Porto and tell you local information. For Free!

My first experience of staying in a hostel and i have to say i was very impressed! Beautiful art-deco building. Great facilities, very comfortable bedrooms (we had a private twin). The location is excellent, only a couple of mins walk down the hill and you're right in the heart of town. The staff are so helpful and friendly and full of useful information and advice on where to go etc. I would most definitly stay here again!

Wow, we had a twin room booked and were not expecting much but let me tell you this place is great, extremely clean and great location. The beds are comfortable and the staff is amazing. I would like to say that "Fatimah" is incredible, she has so much heart for this hostel and works her [--] off. If you see her tell Yosef says hi!

Overall, Spot Hostel is fantastic. It is as beautiful as in the pictures, gorgeous wood floors, fresh white linens, and very clean. I got in a little early and there were two women cleaning very thoroughly, and dishes and the kitchen were constantly being scrubbed down. There are huge lockers under the beds, to which they give you a free key. My 4 bed room had doors that opened to a little balcony over the street. They organize many activities, free walking tour, pub crawl, nitely authentic Portuguese dinners and a happy hour. It's a bit out of the city center (probably a 10 min walk to downtown, 30 mins to the river), but it's very doable and close to the Trinidade metro.

The ONLY complaint that I have are the beds. The mattresses were by far the least comfortable that I'd slept on during my trip. Very hard and unyielding, and I'm not super picky. Great experience otherwise!

Awesome hostel in a great location. Warm showers, free wifi, free breakfast and good kitchen facilities. The bedrooms are clean and basic with a free locker under your bed. The staff are amazing and full of tips and advice about where to visit and eat/ drink.
The hostel takes part in a free tour (see Pancho Tours, Porto) which are brilliant and really give you a feel for the city, including all the local haunts.
Only problem is that it is difficult to see on the street (very small sign), look at the photo of it online before you visit.

Room Tip: Stayed in an 8 bedroom room, this was fine and not too loud.

My friend and I decided to take a trip to Portugal rather last minute. As such, we didn't have much time to shop around for a hostel. We kind of just took the first hostel we could find that looked like it might be OK. I mean, in pictures, the hostel looked beautiful. Too beautiful. Pictures can be deceiving. Imagine our surprise when we walked in to find that the hostel looks exactly as it does in pictures. Better even. It's well decorated, clean, modern. White linens are kind of a dead give-away. It's sort of hard to hide your less-than-stellar cleaning habits with white linens. So it was great to see that everything was just as white as it is supposed to be. In addition to its cleanliness, the hostel's security is reassuring. Inside the rooms, big lockers (read: if you're traveling by Ryanair, whatever luggage you took as your carry-on can be stored inside the locker) are attached to the bed and can be locked with a key given to you upon checking in. There are keycards to get into the rooms and the hostel itself. The staff is very, very friendly. They're willing to help you get around the city, recommend places to go and things to see, places to eat, and help you get back to the airport at odd hours of the day. (If you have to catch an early flight, just let them know, and they will make a note to leave food out for you before you leave.)They'll sit and chat with you about anything and are genuinely interested in you and your trip. They want to hear about your impressions of the city and of the Portuguese, and they want to give you theirs. If you find a great attraction or tour (as we did), tell them! They want to know so that they can pass it on to their other guests. Breakfast is included in the price of the hostel, and it includes cereal, bread, cheese, hot coffee and tea, juice, and milk. There's a kitchen to cook, a patio, free computers and wifi, a big screen TV, and a bar. Drinks inside the bar are cheap and strong. They also offer traditional dinners like francesinha (YOU MUST TRY THIS) for about 7E. Some nights dinner even includes a drink. The hostel itself is a short walk from Trindade, one of the major metro stops in Porto and offers discounts on the hop-on hop-off bus. Last (but certainly not least), it offers a lot of bang for your buck. We booked less than a week in advance, and, for a 4-person female dorm, for two nights, we paid 32E per person. If you're looking for a place to stay in Porto, look no further.

While I do not normally stay in hostels, I decided to give this one a go and I am very happy I did. The staff were really helpful, the rooms and bathrooms were really clean and the lockers under the bed meant that I did not have to worry about my stuff or drag my suitcases out of the room to keep them safe. I also found the facilities with a large and well equipped kitchen, the free internet and large living room with playstation and a selection of movies quite helpful. It was a bit cold in the rooms, but we were promptly provided with extra bedding which sorted the problem. The location was good as well - close to the metro and just by one of the main streets. I will definitely come back there next time I am in Porto.
