Staff were lovely, very helpful when checking in. The room was luxurious and tastefully decorated with a beautiful copper-painted bath. The bed was very comfy, you could easily get lost in the mountain of pilliows supplied. Breakfast finished quite early (10am), and predictably everyone choose to have breakfast between 9.30-10 which meant on one morning we couldn't even get a table in the restaurant and had to take breakfast in the bar. No problem in doing this - it was a lot quieter with more room, just not what we expected for the cost of the hotel.

Been here last year with my partner but eight of us went last weekend for a long weekend. One of the group was celebrating a birthday and with her husband their wedding anniversary. We were able to order a cake in advance and staff were happy for us to decorate part of the bar area as a surprise for our friends.
Hotel is a little dark but that's because of the theatre theme. Good clean hotel with nice breakfast. Fridge in room was useful. Super value. Central for tourists. Very good friendly staff. Our celebrating friends were given a complimentary bottle of champagne and cake even though this was not requested. As returning guests so were we which I thought was a nice touch.
We had separate bathroom and although the door was glass it was coloured therefore you could not see through.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back or side of the hotel not at the front.

The Teatro Hotel is in a great location to explore the heart of Porto. It is within walking distance to the river and all amenities. There are several good cafe's and restaurant's only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed. The best attribute of this hotel is it's staff. We were made to feel at home from the time we arrived until the time we checked out. Every staff member we had any interaction with were very friendly yet professional. I will definitely stay at the Teatro on my next visit to Porto.

Location was very good and the decor was interesting (though if nit picking would say everything is a little too dark). However there is no separate bathroom and no door on the toilet/shower area! We asked for a different room but were told that no rooms had doors on the toilets and that often guests liked that! I'm not sure who wants to watch their partner/friend on the toilet but we certainly did not and found it v weird. The desk staff were ok but not super helpful/friendly and my girlfriend's bag was broken whilst in transit to the room. We complained about this and showed them the damage, they said that something would be sorted but it never was and when we chased up via email still nothing was offered.

This hotel is situated right in the centre of Porto within walking distance of everything. When you first arrive the front doors are quite heavy and difficult to open but once inside allow you eyes to become accustomed to the darkness! The hotel is very dark which is quite strange but you do get used to it. The staff are very helpful and gave us ideas of what to do and see, providing maps and bus tickets etc. We were not show to our room but had to struggle with our cases but the room was spacious. We had asked for a quiet room with a bath but got a room at the front (its on a busy road) which could be noisy. The shower was over the bath but the design was poor and water went everywhere. Tea and coffee is provided but no milk so we took some at breakfast and kept in our fridge for future use. Breakfasts were good and the food topped up regularly with lots of fresh fruit, cereals, hot and cold, juices etc. Good central location for a short stay.
