Stayed here for a birthday treat in March, great place with really friendly staff.Very chic with the style and comfort of a top hotel, with none of the fuss and stuffiness. The room was lovely with no noise to bother you. The shower is huge as is the comfy bed. The room had no view but that's not what I went for!
The staff do their best to help guide you or call to book restaurants,we went to the lunchtime orchestra performance at the Casa de Musica with no hassle at all.The menu in the hotel restaurant was limited,so we asked for another nearby eaterie and they recommended the lovely La Ricotta which was decent of them.
My partner used the small but functional gym on the roof, and we enjoyed the privacy and dark decor and themed lighting.I would suggest this as an ideal weekend stopover for couples and people who like descreet and functional. The location is perfect for the centre of everything, station,Metro, shops, scenery and a short walk up the hill from the historic riverside.
Would go again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the lift.

Stayed in Hotel Teatro at city of Oporto in last December and found out a great hotel, very well located, just in the center of the city, and a few metres from a metro station. The hotel is very clean, quiet and confortable. The decor is super, looks like a theater, a nice front desk, a great bar and a excellent place to be talking, taking a drink, reading or just seeing a movie or tv. The rooms are very clean and with a lot of space, with free wi-fi, flat tv and a very confortable bed. the bathroom is also very clean and quiet big enough, with an excellent shower.
The morning breakfast is very good, excellent to began the day that must be with a lot of walking to see all the great places in Oporto city. I think is no necessary to talk about this wonderful city cause you can find all in Google :)
Resuming, an excellent place to stay for some days in Oporto, I definitely love it and will be back for sure.

This hotel is unusual in that the decoration is based on the theatre and for that reason the lighting is very dramatic/dark and may be too dark for some.
Hotel location was great and despite being relatively central the hotel was quiet.
The staff were brilliant and dealt with every request we had quickly and with a smile.
Our room was clean and quiet, although a little small.
My major quibble with the room was that there was only a glass door and a net curtain between the loo and the bedroom which I must admit I found a little odd!
Breakfast was a real treat and well worth getting up for.
We did dine in the restaurant and found the food to be bland and overpriced - I would suggest seeking out one of the more traditional restaurants for dinner or ask reception for recommendations.
We would stay here again.

I loved the decoration of this hotel. The dark atmosphere starts at the huge and heavy door at the entrance and it stays with you until you enter your room. I stayed in a gallery room, facing the street, the room was agreeable and spotless. The breakfast was perfect too. The no no's are only the fact that there was not much privacy in the restroom since there was actually no door but a curtain and if you're a smoker you'll have to come down and smoke outside (they offer a small patio with heating which makes you life a bit easier). I'd recommend it and I'd love to visit again.

Although the hotel itself was easy to find, and well situated, the front door was unusual and not obviously the door to the hotel (two massive - and heavy - wooden doors) but once inside the theatrical theme became obvious. Reception staff were helpful and spoke good English. You can't gain access to the upper floors without a room pass (you need it to operate the lift) which is a useful security measure. The room was comfortable although it is a little disconcerting to have a toilet with a glass door, which is hidden from the bedroom only by a thin seml-transparent curtain.

Breakfast was excellent, and included (for those who like that sort of thing at that time of day) free champagne! The restaurant menu looked ambitious but we didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food.

Porto itself is fascinating and when we go again, we shall certainly stay at the same hotel.

Having just returned from a four night stay in Hotel Teatro just wanted to agree with the many comments on Trip Adviser. The hotel is in an excellent location for seeing all the many sites of Porto. The staff are all very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Worthy of special mention was the chap on concierge who always greeted you with a smile whether it was day or night!! Breakfast was a very civilised affair with a full range of continental items along with scrambled egg and bacon. All washed down with some of the best orange juice and coffee I have ever come across in a hotel. Yes the rooms are dark however this is all part of the ambience of the hotel and in my opinion works exceptionally well. On arrival we were greeted by a small bottle of port and a selection of chocolates along with part way through our stay a complimentary bottle of red wine with some lovely portugese cheese ( a lovely touch!!)
Well Done Teatro keep up the great work!!

Room Tip: Try and ask for a front facing room with views to the street

One of the best hotel stays I've ever had!

It started when we checked in and were upgraded from a Tribune room to a Junior Suite! Not bad...

I also needed to book a table for a restaurant as it was my birthday and the receptionist was more than happy to book it for me.

The good service didn't stop there. When we arrived back we had a bottle of bubbly and a birthday cake waiting in the room! Amazing thought and consideration which rates this hotel so highly in my book.

Loved the room, so luxurious, fab standalone bath and water fall shower, unique decor makes this feel special and unique.

Other plus points include central location, great breakfast - there is even champagne if you want it - and friendly staff all round. Highly recommended.

Thank you to everyone who works there for making my weekend so special.
