I've never actually reviewed a restaurant on tripadvisor before. Go to a lot of decent places so haven't really had the time or motivation. But this place was so special I feel it deserves a review.
Just excellent. The whole experience was really really great.
We went on a saturday afternoon and it never really got too busy, which was actually quite nice as it meant we had a chef of clear michelin star ability focussing almost exclusively on our food!
We went with 1 x taster menu 7 course and 1 x taster menu 5 course, washed down with a range of ports and a delicious bottle of white.
All the dishes were delicious with such attention to detail, so genuinely tasty and clever food. If I was to pick a few standouts they would be: Foie gras served 3 ways (normal, as a foam, in macaroon), seafood soup with the most incredibly fresh tasty ingredients, sea bream, veal cheek, 'the madeira banana desert' and a stunning citrus fruit desert.
Amongst the best service we've ever had, the sommellier and waitress really know their stuff and you can see how passionate they are about the restaurant.
It will surely have a michelin star very soon.
Not a cheap meal but very good value for the quality.
Go there, you will not be disappointed!
