“Home style with style”

Very good local food. The restaurant is small but was packed on a weekday night. Friendly staff, open kitchen, recomended by Frank Bruni from the Times and worth the visit.

“On the way down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

After some years without coming to Casa Aleixo, I was surprised by the price: clearly too high to the service and quality they are offering.
Clearly on the way down, exploiting the name they have created.

“Bacalau”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

They say there are more than 300ways to cook bacalau - salted cod fish and there bacalau is delicious. The octopus and rice was also a very tasty affair. Muito bom. The service was good.

“Best code fish in Porto!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

This restaurant was recommend to us by a Portuguese friend. Everything we ate was delicious. Ask for the specialty of the house. The service was also very good! The waiter took the time to answer to all our questions regarding food and wine. Price per person 18-22€ with wine. The restaurant opens at 19:30 and you can find it very easy by walking from the nearest metro station. I recommend it if you like to taste real local cuisine!

“Wonderful meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

We had read recommendations about this restaurant in Chowhound and had asked the staff. Everyone we asked in the hotel spoke highly of the food. It was our last meal in Porto and we were not disappointed! It has been family run for about 100 years and the owner welcomes you, his father's picture is on the wall right along humorous naming of the areas, the daughter is in the kitchen, and the grandson is tending the bar. We were advised to go by cab since it is in the Campahna area and it would be a bit of a walk from our hotel and not in the evening. Cab ride was short and not expensive. The food was delicious! We started with a chilled white port as an apperitiv then had a bottle of wine from the Douro region. Our dinner consisted of caldo verde, delicious crunchy bread, fish, and the softest melt in your mouth Octopus filet ever, it was memorable!
