Fabulous building, used to be the heart of the commercial district. The architecture and design is incredible. The tours are available in multiple languages and add a lot to the visit. Highly recommended!

Very informative tour that allows you to learn a little about the history of the place and the monarchy. Found it really fascinating to learn the building is still in use and as you walk into various ornate chambers you were transported back in the past...you could just picture meetings and formal sessions happening. Having just come from Granada, Spain you could totally see the Alhambra influence on the decorations in the Arab Room. (Who spends like 18 years decorating one room? Gorgeously over the top!) Was disappointed that no pictures were allowed and if you miss the tour with your language you might have to wait a bit. Worth the small admission fee.

For me, the Palácio da Bolsa was the best attraction in Porto. It's an absolutely beautiful building, with numerous decadent rooms designed to impress, which they certainly do. Be aware that there are tours every half hour, so you may have to wait twenty minutes or even longer for your language, if you are unlucky. The history of this building is closely linked with the merchant city of Porto, and it really gives you a glimpse into the past, helped along by all the information from our chatty and entertaining tour guide. Porto as a city is nowadays quite shabby (although still very pretty), and it's difficult to imagine the place as wealthy, so the palace and the tour guide together did a wonderful job of painting an image of the city in bygone days.

There's also a sweet little touristy gift shop.

Amazing historic place, fit for kings and queens. Many great details make the visit there an experience. But they don't allow to take pictures, which is very surprising.

Nothing to dislike.

The grand staircase is just magnificent.

The murals are history ladden: how the Porto merchants made money.

And of course, the 19th century Arab Room is amazing. Its architect was inspired by the Alhambra and put more glitz in it than the original. Gorgeously fake! You have to see it to believe it.
