I do not stay too often at 4* hotels when travelling as a tourist, but still have quite high expectations of such places. I want to feel as "the one and only guest" and to have a quality service, good food and nice interior.
Axis is located away from historic center, but seems quite busy. The neighbourhood is quiet, but to my feeling- looks a bit deserted and awkward.
The room had great floor panels and nice decor in general. It had some odd features (one has to close the balcony door in order to turn off the A/C; the TV speaker is also mounted in the bathroom - one has to turn off the lights there in order to turn off the speaker, otherwise he/she will take a bath with a really loud noise coming from above), but seemed soundproofed and beds were comfortable.
What annoyed me a bit were dirty menu/room service list - looked like zillions of people already touched them. The towels were clean, but smelled weird. Perhaps they were washed a longer while before we occupied the room.
Food was ok, both for breakfast and dinner. Main dish for dinner was awful (bones in sauce instead of lamb + some other dish that I do not even remember), but the entrees were tastier.
Overall rating - not bad hotel, but nothing to remember for years and years after my stay.
