My meal at Chez Lapin was very good. The signature dish is roasted octopus, which was excellent. The restaurant is located on the water-front with a great view of the activity on the water and for people watching, which is necessary since the service is so slow. Trying to catch your waitress for a drink, place an order, or ask for the bill was a major challenge. Granted, the food was very good, but waiting 20 minutes to be served, another 30 minutes for my entree to make it to my table made for a longer than necessary meal. However, the atmosphere was pleasant and I was there during a busy evening. If you don't mind the wait, the food was very good, especially the roasted octopus.

The Restaurant is set amongst a row of typical tourist restaurants. Service was a little bit slow (but that seems to be a Portuguese tradition) and the food was average at best, so their are definitely plenty of better alternatives in Porto.
good location facing the river
But it's a pleasure just to have a drink of red wine douro or white vinho verde on the terrace with the view on the iron bridge Luis 1, designed by a follower of Gustave Eiffel.

The food here was very good and the staff was very nice. The prices here are higher than elsewhere for some reason but it was a pleasant experience.

From its past owner and founder, who introduced the excellent French cuisine in Porto, in the middle of the past century, only the name remains...
Nowadays is a terrible place owned by a foreign citizen, serving frozen food and poorly cooked dishes of Portuguese cuisine...
Definitely it is not a budget place to have a genuine Portuguese meal but fits perfectly the nickname of "tourist-trap"!

Visited here last night with 3 friends after our first 2 choices were not
open on Sunday night. We had to make the dreaded uneducated guess, so we chose chaz lapin as it seemed to have the most people .
After browsing the menu and moving into the outdoor area a little, we finally got a waiter who told us to '' wait a sec'' after another 10 minutes we decided to just sit down at an empty uncleared table. Finally after a further 5 mins table got cleared (should also point out it was not very busy)
Anyway we ordered our food, I had the duck rice which was exactly that 1/5, dry, overcooked, boring. Friends had the chicken, sea bass and steak which just got average reviews.
Felt like we were a pain for the wait staff for no reason. Horrendous service.I will be going out armed with more than 2 options from now on.
