What a fantastic holiday. The hotel was clean, the rooms where clean and the staff extremely friendly. The food was good although after eating at the hotel several days it was a welcome change to eat out. The hotel has a fantastic pool and the beach is immaculate. The island get very little rain so the sun is usually out. If you enjoy piece and quiet and want to relax with a good book this is the one for you. To see the island, hire a quad or take the jeep safari. Taxi's into town are a little bit over priced so take advantage of the bus service. Many of the restaurants have a free shuttle service and you can book through reception. My advise would be, don't play it safe and go all inclusive. Instead maybe try half board, there are many fantastic restaurants on the island and the menus are in English. The local food is fantastic and the island is beautiful. In a couple of years this place will be overwhelmed by tourists, so book now whilst it is unspoilt.

I booked this holiday at the very last minute as my husband and I had been exceptionally busy this year and I thought it looked a great place to relax. Didn't want anything to do except to sit in the sun, swim, read and do some crosswords. This was our third all inclusive holiday with First Choice in a year. We arrived on Monday evening and were quite disappointed when we first saw the hotel (we've been twice to Puerto Calero in Lanzarote and that is a real WOW arrival!). Goodness, it is so hot in all of the public parts. Thank goodness our room was great and had a/c. The food wasn't good and I really felt as though I was back having school dinners. All the food is left out in the open which I hate. Why can't it be covered? Never saw any flies or insects though and nobody seemed to get tummy bugs thank goodness. I'm vegetarian so the choice was very limited here. The soups were great and I had these every night until one meal time while ladling some "vegetable soup" I noticed pink lumps! I enquired and was told it's Farmers vegetable soup which of course has Carne (meat) in it! I had a lot of rice and plain pasta. Plastic carafes of wine - yuk. Orange prisoner plastic tags on our wrists which seemed to make the bar staff in both bars treat one as a 2nd class holiday maker. Had a really lovely cup of coffee when we paid E1.50 for it in the beach bar (it seemed to be milky water in the free coffee machine). Some of the staff were nice enough and the lady who cleaned our room was lovely so she was the only person we tipped. The pool and beach are beautiful although you can't get sunbeds on the beach unless you are up early and pay for them. We used to have our evening meal and go up to our beautiful air conditioned room ASAP as it was so hot downstairs. We tried walking out in the evening but really there is nothing there. As I say, we really didn't want to sightsee and we did have a very relaxed holiday, but I was so pleased we we there for only a week. On the last day we had a flight at 7.40 pm. We ate lunch at 1 ish, didn't bother with the cakes or sandwiches which were left out in the open for a couple of hours every afternoon for "tea" and got on our plane. We were in seats 14. The stewards starting serving food at the back and front, they got to a couple of rows in front of us then announced there was no more sandwiches or hot food! This at 21.00 hours! Apparently this happens on each of the return flights 3 times a week! I was so upset. I called First Choice when I got home and the response was "Hang on for 5 minutes and I'll check .........oh yes, the staff have logged this and it does happen on this flight. Didn't you say there were some snack boxes with salami? Oh, you're vegetarian, well that's tough" So if you're going on this holiday I'd strongly advise you to get a seat either at the front or the back of the plane for the return journey as there is no food at the airport. Loved Porto Santo but won't be going back.

The hotels exterior resembles the apartments built by the russians in Cuba.Luckily the interior is a complete contrast, reception, bar and bedrooms are tastefully modern.Staff were efficient, friendly with a genuine desire to please.
Food.As has been said the breakfast is as varied to please all nations.Lunch and dinner seem to be more of a miss mash. The salad bar had no cold meats or fish. just salad with a dominating prescence of shredded carrot. The hot fish and meat dishes were ranging between not that bad or acceptable.Alas the hot vegetables (not that hot) were in the most part tinned.Puddings and ice cream no problem other than tinned fruit salad. As we all have different expectations regarding food my perceptions may be at variance with most.As we we were all inclusive and realising the menu would a week on week repeat we chose to eat out in the evening for the whole of our second week and would highly recommend the Quinta do Serrado restaurant. All in all a destination worth visiting for a laid back experiece although one visit is more than enough.

booked Vilabaleira as a last minute break through Thompson for a weeks getaway from it all, and have to say if you want to get away from it all Porto Santo is the place, outstanding beach, consistantly warm around 27 but felt alot hotter at times and very relaxing, very little to do but some great restaurants if you want a change from the All Inclusive menu, which by the way was ok but a bit samey, You should take in the Jeep Safari covers most of the island in 3 hours with a coffee stop but the guides were fantastic (Martha and the team, i think) very passionate and knowledgeable about their island
Service within the hotel was terrible at times and seemed to be worse at Dinner, waiters would look at you then totally ignore you and serve other guests, seemed to happen quite a lot to other English guests There was a lot of confusion over the All Inclusive package and what you could have and what you couldnt, dont expect decent coffee (you have to pay for that) and god forbid if you asked for a second drink, or a large beer at dinner.
The pool bar was an experience during the day where all the staff seem to be suffering from depression it wasnt a happy place needless to say service wasnt a pleasure
however, service aside, the hotel was clean and pleasant with decent facilities and we will return to the island but not to this particular hotel

We are curently registered here and this is our first time on the island and it is a truley laid back and relaxing holiday and we would definately return to the island, just not to this hotel. on the positive side the staff are helpful and friendly and the hotel is clean and on the whole very modern. on the down side the food is dreadful (I am generaly not a fussy eater) and one of the reasons for choosing this hotel was its well equiped gym, the machines are old and broken and most of the weights are missing, the running machines are a health risk, all of which was reoprted to reception on day one and as yet nothing has changed, watch this space.....

We returned from the lovely island of Porto Santo on 27th August, we spent two great weeks at the Vilabaleria. The hotel is four star, well equipped, the staff (well most) are great, really friendly, especially the reception staff and the animation team, my son adored Andre in particular. The food at the hotel is good quality, but they could expand the variety and make the restaurant a little prettier, flowers etc. The pool and beach area are really lovely. I think if you are all inclusive/full board you should be able to eat lunch at the pool bar, that would be a good improvement, gives you a change of scenery. All in all a great hotel. However should add rose wine to the full board!

Port Santo itself is a great place to holiday, quiet, cheap to eat out. We were lucky enough to be there during a local festival, so the town was decorated with lovely flowers and lights, with local bands playing in the evening. The local restaurants were good quality and great value. We did the Thomson trip on the catamaran, well more a bus on water, but we did see dolphins. We also did the day trip to Madeira, another great experience, especially the wicker tobogans!

Beautiful place, I hope too much tourism doesn't spoil it, have recommended to lots of friends, would love to visit again in the next few years.

Stayed hear between 20th/27th August 2012,Staff excellent especially girls on reception, room cleaned every day with fresh towels.usual sunbed shortage, but it was peak season.
Generally had a good holiday but a few items need attension.
Air conditioning in the rooms was fine ,but the airconditioning in the public areas was either not working or switched off, breakfast was fine and something for everyone was available.
Evening meal was a bit hit and miss as the hotel generally caters for Italians,we struggled to find something about 4 evenings out of seven.
Hotel is not 4 star but the staff were very helpfull.Porto Santo beautiful and worth a visit.
Don't bother with the evening entertainment as this was the worst we have ever come across.
It was like really bad Benny Hill ,and really not suitable for family's.
