“Central location.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Well placed amongst others adjacent to the town square. We found the service fine and the quality of the food was good. varied menu and vast quantities. When we visited the servers were not as cheerful as elsewhere but maybe not a good day for some reason!

“A central place to eat a good meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

The location of this restaurant is superb on a square in the middle of the town. Great for people watching! And we also had a good meal. Between four of us we had grilled catch of the day, sardines and octopus - all very fresh and all well cooked. The fried maize was the best we had eaten in Portugal. The staff were pleasant and attentive. A good experience.

“Can't get much more central than this.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

We stumbled upon this bar/ restaurant whilst trying to find another one and were glad we called a halt to our search! The food available is varied, the staff helpful in the best way they could be with limited English combined with our even more limited Portuguese! The location was perfect for people watching whilst enjoying a glass of beer or wine. The steak on the stone was so impressive my husband would have gladly eaten there every night, as it was we were there 3 evenings out of our 7 on the island of Porto Santo.

Good restaurant to have a cool beer or a meal, in the historical centre of Porto Santo.

“Lovely setting, great service, shame about the food!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2011

On a day trip from Madeira, we booked a bus tour of the island upon arrival and asked for recommendations for a place to eat lunch and so ended up at the Baiana. It was idyllic sitting under the sunshades near the old church. Although quiet when we arrived, the tables filled up as we were eating. Service was very good indeed, brisk but not hurried, which suited us as we had a bus to catch! I had tuna steak sandwich, good but too much bread for my taste. My husband tucked into sardines with potatoes and salad which he found not as good as some he had enjoyed on Madeira.
