We booked this trip as we loved seeing the ship go past our hotel and wanted to have a go for ourselves. It's a beautiful replica with plenty of seating and space. There's a bar on board with bottles of local beer for 2 euros, good value for Madeira. There's also toilets on board which are very clean and spacious enough for you to change clothes if you need. We stopped off for a swim near the highest cliffs in Europe which was lovely. The crew keep an eye out to make sure everyone is safe, they warned us of some jellyfish that appeared towards the end of the swim and guided us safely round. Once back aboard we were given complimentary maderia wine and cake. There's also a real life parrot on board who responds to hello not Ola.
Definitely worth it if you fancy a different view of Madeira and a swim in the sea.

Don’t go if you expect to see sealife. Book this trip if you want to spend some time on a original boat and to have a swim.

I highly recommend this boat trip on a replica of the ship that Christopher Columbus sailed to discover America. We saw Dolphins and drank a glass of Madeira wine with a slice of honey cake. Yes, she does rock a bit on the water, but what do you expect trust me it's a great experience.

This Portuguese Pirate cruise is a wonder trip in which you can literally see Dolphins & small Whales.
Good snacks & drinks to go with it. WONDERFUL big boat.
Also you have a chance to swim in the sea.
Captain Giraldo was as helpful as any Captain should be.
AWESOME TRIP..

We decided to do this boat trip towards the end of our holiday and picked the 3pm slot. They start boarding 30mins beforehand which was quick. There’s plenty of space on board to sit and roam around, the sea was really choppy the day we went so walking around was a struggle. There is a bar onboard which sells a variety of drinks for a reasonable price (€3 for 2 soft drinks). The staff are friendly enough and are dressed as crew mates but don’t really interact with you or explain where you’re headed, hence the 4 stars. There is a lovely little dog and parrot on board too, very friendly. We stopped after an hour for those who wanted a swim, along with complimentary Madeira cake and wine (nice touch). On our way back we were fortunate enough to see a pod of dolphins which made the trip worth while! Would recommend but be aware, seeing dolphins and whales is not always guaranteed.
