“Best Italian meal ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

We discovered this new restaurant on our fifth visit to Madeira, and after visiting twice at lunch times were so impressed we decided to have dinner there on what was the last night of our holiday.
Although situated on the main Estrada Monumental in the hotel district, traffic noise and and exhaust fumes were not a problem when seated in the outdoor area of the restaurant.
On showing us to our table the waitress asked if we were comfortable then left, returning afer a minute with the menu.
She gave us several minutes to peruse the menu before returning to ask if we wanted drinks.
It was not until after we had closed the menu that she returned and asked if we were ready to order.
All during our meal she kept a discrete distance from our table and the other four she was waiting on but was always alert to a head being raised and was there in seconds to enquire if anything else was needed.
I have dwelled on this as I was amazed at the extraordinary customer service in the restaurant. A service a lot of other restaurants could do well to copy.
To the food itself, the complimentary nibbles were hot and extremely tasty.
I ordered carbonara and my wife, veal with salad.
Unlike the carbonara served in some restaurants which is sometimes like a lump of stodge and tastes of flour, it was if the spaghetti, ham and mushrooms had been marinated in carbonara sauce, removed from the sauce and served, not swimming in a pool of sauce.
The accompanying garlic bread was not sliced too thinly or thickly and it was obvious the bread had not been sprinkled with processed garlic but rubbed with a garlic clove.
I can honestly say this was the best Italian meal I have ever had.
My wife said the veal was cooked to perfection and melted on the tongue and was so tasty condiments were not required.
From the noise the salad made when my wife pushed her fork into it, it was obvious it was fresh and sourced that day.
We declined a sweet and had coffee, which again was absolutely delicious.
We would recommend this gem to anybody and in the months to come may well become the main rival to The Hole in One which is situated a short distance away.

“A little gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

This lovely friendly restaurant was recommended to us by some other guests where we were staying and we were not in the least disappointed. The food is excellent and plentiful but the price is very surprisingly cheap. We visited on two occasions and both times we had 3 delicious courses with wine. The service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We went quite early (around 7-7.30pm) any later and if you want to be seated inside I would recommend you book as the indoor are is quite small although the larger outdoor area is undercover.
Anyone self catering can benefit from their takeaway service.

“New kid on the block”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Passed this restaurant whilst walking the Estrada Monumental, as many people do. The menu looked great so we went in for the "codina", no not fish, a large ham hock taking 20 minutes to cook. Well worth the wait. A huge meal served with sliced potatoes on a bed of spinach. The house wine was very reasonable and helped to make this the cheapest meal we had on holiday.

The view down the main road was unusual but not unpleasant. Scenic of a sort. Great people watching potential.

“Delicious Pizza!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

Beautiful Morning sunbathing but rather than pay hotel prices for lunch went in search of a quick snack. Within metres of our hotel we found Passione D'Italia. Ok it's by the side of the road but cool and shady. We shared an excellent stone baked pizza, savoured with every delicious mouthful. The staff really friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.should add the loos were spotlessly clean also!

“Best Bruschetta ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

We walked past this restaurant on our first evening, but it looked more like a lunch place rather than a dinner place, so we went back for lunch the next day. My husband and i shared the bruschetta...wish we had got our own, it was the most tasty and the most fresh we had ever eaten. I then had a pizza and my husband a carbonara, both absolutely fantastic!!!
We went there everyday for lunch for a week and everytime we ordered the bruschetta...each!! It was fab!!! A must go....
