“Average hotel,great staff”
Reviewed May 23, 2014

Though rooms are nice and big, bathrooms are in desperate need for renovation, gloomy and run down and the shower curtain absolutely disgusting. We paid for a room with a view only to find out that that was a street view, impossible to get any rest because of traffic so we changed to a room facing the interior courtyard and the small gym. Pillows are awful,no duvet, only thin blankets,we asked for extra ones of each after a cold first night. No WiFi in the room, quite difficult to swallow though we knew from when we booked.
On the plus side, breakfast buffet is quite nice and the location is not bad either.
We were quite impressed with the staff, very helpful, heard them speak several languages too. Nice touch on my birthday, they brought a sparkling wine up to my room with a printed card wishing happy birthday in my native language, thanks again for that. That is the kind of attention to detail that contributes to forming an overall opinion.

P.S. Walking down 3mins across the street you can find the rental office for City Bubbles, definitely a must,so much fun to drive to the highest peaks of this gorgeous island or down to the beach.

Stayed here for 1 week solo from24th March. I had a large, modern twin room with a fairly large bathroom with a good supply of hot water and a good shower. On arrival i asked about a kettle for that early morning cuppa and one was provided free of charge. Electronic safe, also free to use. Good wifi available in Reception.Breakfast had everything I could possibly have wanted, including crispy bacon!
Not the hotel for you if you want to spend your evening socialising by the bar, but, perfect if like me you are out and about most of the time.
Only real complaint is the pillows......please replace them.

The hotel lived up to the expectations. Stayed there for a week and I really enjoyed it. Modern and pretty, very clean with big and comfortable rooms. We got a room with a balcony, a nice touch. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The restaurant/bar staff and the reception staff were polite and friendly.
Free parking was a valuable asset, considering that in Madeira one "must" rent a car.

The only minus is the weak insulation of the rooms, considering that there is a annoying karaoke bar somewhere nearby and you have to listen to dreadful singing until 1 or 2 am.

Reataurant tips:
- "Restaurante Santo António" for the traditional and delicious Espetada Madeirense
- "Pub Sete Mares" for the poncha and Picado

This hotel is more suited to business use than as a holiday location. During our recent stay we were constantly overlooked by the workmen renovating the residential apartments next door, even when the work is complete you will be overlooked by the residents. We asked to move but were told we already had the best room. There are sea views, but only if you stand on you balcony and crane your neck.
The staff although polite knew nothing about Funchal. One day we asked at reception where we could catch the no 31 bus and were told it was in the centre of Funchal (approx. 1.5 miles away).
We duly caught the bus and a few minutes later we travelled past our hotel !!.
The swimming pool area is nice and the breakfast was ok, but nothing special.
In short there are hundreds of much more suitable hotels than this one.

We've just stayed a fortnight and had a great time. The only downsides were: no wi-fi in rooms, and traffic noise. Both quite easy to live with, though...

All the staff we met were nice and helpful. We had a problem with the sink, it was fixed in no time. The rooms are stylish, clean and spacious. The pool area is lovely. Breakfast is great, with plenty to choose from - lots of fruit and wholegrain bread for the healthy, croissants and a full English for the more indulgent. And even a drop of bubbly!

The area is nice, the walk into Funchal/marina is about 20-30 minutes, and there's a bus stop and a taxi stand just outside the hotel. The Forum shopping centre is a 15 minute walk in the opposite direction. There are several supermarkets nearby, and some great restaurants. Would especially reccomend La Bomba and Delhi.

We are definately going back to Madeira, and would love to stay here again.

Great hotel and staff, huge breakfast buffet, very clean and spacious, loved the swimming pool looking onto the sea, great location! Would def go again!!!!
Located in front of bus stops and airport shuttle, very close to the marina, lots of local supermarkets and shops around, all tours pick up at the reception.

We just returned from a week staying at the Lince. We found the staff very professional, pleasant and friendly. The room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. We asked for an extra pillow and it was delivered to our room within 15 minutes. The buffet breakfast was delicious: fresh fruit, yoghurt, full cooked breakfast, choice of breads, rolls, pastries, cakes. The rooftop pool and pool bar were good too. Plenty of sunloungers, also tables and chairs, and large bean bags. The hotel was at a road junction, which I thought might be noisy at night, but it didn't cause us any problems. It was very convenient for the bus stops, and took us about 30 minutes level walk to the city centre. Loads of nearby restaurants, bars and shops.

Room Tip: 4th floor is on the same level as the pool terrace
