“Lovely food, great value and nice staff”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We visited this lovely restaurant atleast 3 times during our 2 week stay. The staff are so friendly and the menu is varied and tempting. Lots of dishes are generous enough to be shared, The fish soup comes in a saucepan and would easily serve two. Don't be shy and ask to share. I had grilled fish and it was large enough for two people. The duck is fantastic! Go there!! Oh and ask for a 10% discount card after your first visit.

“Just OK”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by a staff member at our hotel and it was OK but really nothing more.

We ordered the 'catch of the day and a mixed grilled fish and had some garlic bread to nibble while it was being prepared. The catch of the day (sea bass) was perfectly acceptable simply grilled and served with potatoes and salad, the mixed fish was fine in terms of selection and portion size but too dry. It appeared to have been cooked and kept hot.

We tried the house white wine, which again was perfectly acceptable without being anything special.

With coffee the bill was 50 Euros. Not too bad for Funchal but overall the meal was instantly forgettable. Service was reasonably quick and the staff were pleasant.

“Excellent home cooked food”
Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

We had the flambed pepper steak and rabbit, both were excellent. Not the cheapest place but the quality of the produce was top notch and the portions generous. They showed you the steak before they cooked it in front of you. Waiters were very friendly and helpful.

“flambe heaven”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

what agreat restaurant this is. Newly discovered this year and near to the Eden Mar hotel we walked there one evening and it was so good we immediately booked again.
Recommendation from a local rep gave us a free voucher for starters of flambe shrimp which were excellent followed by the speciality - lamb stew in a very large saucepan brought to the table, rice, saute pots and lovely fresh vegetables. All served with smiles from every member of staff. Returned on our last night in Funchal and again were pleasantly surprised. Nice touch with a little complimentary drink at the end ofthe meal what more could you want. Excellent.

“Pleasant, if not exceptional”
Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

This is a pleasant restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. The decor inside is a little garish for my tastes, but the staff work really hard to make us feel welcome and provide good service. The waiters ranged in age from a teenager, to an older gentleman who was charming to us and our son. The food was good and plentiful. Well worth a visit.
