This was next to the hotel and so we went there on our first evening when we could not be bothered to go far at all. It has been always popular with Madeirans in the past and remains the case at lunchtime. The pastas, mine with tomato and chicken was very reasonable at just 6.50euros, the other seafood ones were around 11-12.50 euros and had nice prawns in them. My otherhalf had a pizza (at 13 euros it was v pricey) which he disliked intensely, saying there was some strange orange type of flavour whcih should not have been there. The wine was about standard price. Waitress wasn't exactly friendly and smiley.
I would say if you chose selectively you could eat here very well and cheaply, but some dishes do not fall this category
