Just back from a week at the Regency Cliff, we had a suite that was just superb, coffee machine, fridge etc and the view, well waking up to sit on the balcony with a great cup of coffee and watch the boats go by, enough said!! Staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All in all a really great smaller hotel.

Lovely smaller hotel which has had a refurbishment this year with friendly staff. We stayed in room 206 and found it excellent for views and position. We found hygiene was excellent, ants only appeared when we dropped crumbs and quickly disappeared. Advice, adopt ageeko in your room then no trouble with anything that crawls, you are abroad!! I can understand about avoiding level 1 but probably ideal for parents with young children in the summer with access to pool etc. We stayed B&B and glad we did breakfast food was excellent, when any thing ran low if you asked staff it would always be replaced with more. Had a dinner first night which we were given 20% discount but were disappointed by lack of choice. Only choice of two starters, main, & sweets. Outside restaurants provide really good choice and competitive prices. The hotel did provide a shuttle service & free WiFi. It is 40min walk from Funchal which is fine the first time you do it but you wouldnt want to do it everytime. Outside pool was cold but inside pool was just the right temp for a swim. Note to Manager: A new toaster would be a good investment, save money by less cooked food at breakfast and more choice for dinner at a cheaper price.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea but I would avoid level 1 if you like privacy. We went for a superior room w...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review which had our best attention.

We would like to clarify that we have 3 times per week Buffet and on the other days we have the set menu with options between two starters, 3 main courses, and two desserts. Combined with the set Menu we also have our A La Carte Menu with a variety of national and international dishes.

We are glad to hear that over all you enjoyed your holiday and hope to see you back in a very near future.

This hotel ticked all the boxes for me. We had a 3rd floor room with balcony and sea view. The hotel lobby is very comfortably furnished with sofas and chairs with marble floors and pillars. The white walls and use of voile curtains adds to the light, cool atmosphere The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good and the location, out of the busy centre of Funchal, is excellent. There is an indoor pool as well as the outdoor one, a gym and Wi-Fi. There is a free shuttle service to the town centre but you can walk there in about 20 minutes, or get a taxi or bus.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a sea view but ask for one higher than the ground floor as these rooms are quite...

Just returned from Four nights at the Regency Cliff (wish it had been longer) What a fabulous place. I should not be writing this as everyone will now want to go and we will not get in next time. Seriously though if you like small intimate hotels with excellent service in the most beautiful location look no further. It is spectactular in every way and the front of house staff led by Graca Jardim are all excellent. We had the most wonderful time even though the weather could have been better. First class in every way

My Husband and I have just returned after a 3 week stay at the Madeira Regency Cliff. We cancelled a holiday we had already booked because we were so impressed by the reviews on Trip Advisor. We had a couple of disapointing holidays that were all inclusive and so decided to go for a smaller hotel and only for B and B.This was a good choice for the area has many restaurants and most are reasonably priced and in 3 weeks we did not have one bad meal.
We did email the hotel 2 weeks before arrival requesting a room on the 3 or 4th floors with plenty of sun and they replied very quickly and said they would do their best . When we arrived we were allocated room 305 which was perfect,we did find the bathroom a little small with not much room for toiletries etc.,but the room was perfect and the view was breathtaking.
We found breakfast was more than ample, although some morning the fresh fruit dishes almost empty or the baked beans were mostly sauce, but the breads and rolls etc were great.
The only downside was the first evening we returned to our room after dinner to find ants all over the dressing table and the coffee tray, they were even in the kettle!! we reported this next morning and they came and put down some powder, this did improve the problem but if we left any water in a saucer or cup they would be back,so we were careful to always check the kettle before using it. Also a bedside lightswitch was broken and it did take 2 days to get it fixed.Later we had 2 bulbs go in the bathroom but these were replaced very quickly.
We will certainly be returning hopefully next year but perhaps in the spring as the weather was rather unsettled.

Our first visit to Madeira, and on recommendation booked the Regency Cliff. No regrets.... a smaller but friendly hotel run to high standards. Spacious rooms with all the usual facilites and including decent sized balconies. Very friendly staff and very good food in the restaurant, breakfast was a pleasure taken out in the sun each morning. Relaxing by the small pool was a lovely way to "chill". I am not surprised that some guests return year after year.
Downside? - not much, but just watch out for drinks prices in the hotel that can be rather high.

Lovely 4 star small 50 room hotel, great location on sea cliff, all rooms face shore line and/or sea, away from any roads and traffic noise and have large balconies. Very well furnished and maintained, larger superior room had a great view of the city and the sea. Great hot and cold buffet breakfast with lots of choice and very prompt service. Hotel is on margin of main hotel strip slightly away from but close enough to the hustle and bustle and about 40 minutes walk into centre of Funchal. Number 1 and 2 buses that take you into Funchal stop just outside the door. Can't go wrong with this hotel unless you are looking for major entertainments and the glitz and glamour of the 5 star luxury hotels.

Room Tip: Rooms on floor level 1 are on same level as the outdoor swimming pool and may lack privacy. Receptio...
