And great food too.
The bar was named after a famous Madeiran prostitute who worked from no 81, three doors down. Her name was Doña Joana-Rabo-de-Peixe and her tales were written by Joao Carlos Abreu. It was one of the first houses/cafes to be involved in the painted doors project and it celebrates the literary traditions of Madeira and Funchal's Old Town in particular.
It was a seriously hot morning and they serve a welcoming beer. Like other reviewers, I stayed on for a snack and I will certainly be going back.
The fish cakes are wonderful - and I also have my eye on their octopus. But that's for another day.......
