We stayed at the Quinta for Sol for a week at the end of February 2014.
+ The location was great, a walking distance (or just a couple of bus stops) away from both the city centre and the hotel district.
+ Everything was clean and tidy.
+ We liked the bar and the bartender Carlos was a lot of fun.
+/- The breakfast buffet was ok, there were things to choose from, ranging from fresh fruit to a heavy eggs and bacon sort of thing. At the end of the day, the selection of cheese and cold cuts, for example, was fairly limited. But everything was good, no complaints there.
+/- Our room was adjoined to another, the doors obviously locked from both sides but, unfortunately, we could hear pretty much everything from the other room. Luckily, most of the noise could be blocked by closing an inner door between the tiny hall and the part of the room with the beds.
-There's an extra charge for using the safe.
- The fire alarm went on three times. One of those times many people actually went outside and the staff did not bother to come out to tell us it was a false alarm. One woman actually stood there with nothing but a towel on... When we ventured in, the receptionist then told us it was only a toaster.
- The cupboards in the rooms were ancient with much too retro papers and a slightly funky smell inside them.
For us, the location and the general niceness of the hotel overcame the tiny problems, so we do recommend this hotel.
