We have travelled to Madeira for over 10 years, as a now early 60’s couple, and have again decided to document this years (2013) restaurant visits. Dining took place either late afternoon or early evening across a variety of establishments revisiting previously rated restaurants, ones known to us over the years or restaurants rated in the Trip Advisor top 20. Bills were between €65 and €175. Each visit usually included 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 sweets, a large still water, a bottle of wine and 2 coffees.
As previous reviewers have said, the ability of the staff to remember customers who visit once or twice a year means a lot; adding this to the quality and price of the food gives value for money and return visits guaranteed.
A starter of Bruschetta with ham figs and mint €6 was a lovely way to start the evening. Main course of Canelloni with chicken & tomato sauce €13.65 was OK, but for me the Pizza with Salmon & asparagus was better at €13.65. Sweets of Lemon Cream €4.40 and Casata €5.20 were both pleasant. The wine list is restricted and possibly could be improved, but we had a bottle of Estava for €14.65. Total bill ~€65 ( much same as 2012).
