This is a small restaurant that does not have a lot of decoration or fancy things that would attract the attention of tourists. Instead, it is focused on serving good food and providing a great service to all, locals and tourists, to the ones wanting just to have a good sip of Madeira wine to the ones having a full meal. We ate at the Tavira twice in our stay in Madeira and were very pleased with the efficiency and warmth of Ana and Manoel which served us very well. The food is not fancy and the menu offers typical Portuguese/Madeira dishes. We tried meat (carne a vinha d'alho and espetada) and fish based (espada and calamari) dishes and they were all good. If you want a home feel both in the service provided and the food and want to get away of the tourist traps, this is the place to go.
