A beautiful garden that you can spend hours exploring, hence the need for walking shoes! You can get a combined cable car and Palace Garden ticket which is worth it. The entrance is at the top and you gradually wind your way down as you explore but then you have to climb back up for your return!! There are limited driven buggies available for those who struggle. The cafe was disappointing, it's ina lovely setting with plenty of tables but all refreshments are via a self operating vending machine!

Well worth a visit. I liked the mix of gardens and art. Good idea to look at the map you're given with your ticket to see what sort of route you want to follow; art, nature or mixed. Hint - mixed is the shortest. I really liked the tiled history of Portugal on the art route unlike some reviewers, very colourful and interesting. The koi carp are great to watch. The display of minerals and uncut semi precious stones on the ground floor of the museum are amazing.

Not really suitable for people with mobility problems. Signage for the different attractions in the garden could be better e.g. More signs.Sunday not the best day to visit by bus as they only run once an hour.

I loved the koi pond and the view of the people sledding down from Monte. My husband and I spent several hours walking around the garden.

A very nice trip but very hilly. Do not attempt if you have walking difficulties.
Must take the toboggan back

We love this place! Top of our list for a visit when in Madeira. Well worth a visit. Take a picnic or use the friendly café for lunch and stay all day. Spectacular views over Funchal. So much to see.
