“Italy, Austria and Portugal combined”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013 via mobile

Nice to find a cosy restaurant in central Funchal, and have the opportunity to talk matters over BEFORE being approached by the staff.

The man who then greeted us and showed us the cardboard with the pastas, sauces and soups of the day turned out to be the Austrian owner.

Started out with a tomato and mozzarella antipasti with some really tasteful olive oil.
After that my better half got (some slightly overcooked) tagliatelle with a basic tomato sauce whereas I had a well made plate of ravioli.
Paid less than 50,- € including 4 bottles of water and a well tempered Chianti. I'd call that a good deal.

If you're in Italian mood definitely worth a visit.

“Just as you like it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

Super restaurant tucked away, but worth looking for, no menus choices are written in Portuguese on a blackboard inside but don't be put off as everything is explained very well by friendly staff easiest thing to do is explain what you like (creamy, spicy, meaty,) and they will make to suit your tastes, the food was delicious and 2 starters & 2 mains with drinks came to 24 € can't get better than that, we will definitely be back.

“Good choice, mixed results”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

Fancied an Italian and liked the idea of mix and match pasta/suaces at this place. My wife had a mushroom pesto which she enjoyed (and liked the option of half portions). I went for a ravioli with an olive oil/garlic sauce but it was far too salty (a problem at other Madeira places though). THe desserts were nothing special. So overall a little disappointed, but it was good value if not very large portions.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We have visited La Pasta twice in the last week and had a lovely lunch. We ordered Pizza of the day and it was really nice. We first visited La Pasta 2 years ago and the standards have been increased if anything. Really nice little Italian tucked away from the hustle of Funchal.

“Mix and Match”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

We found this place more by luck than judgement. It is tucked away in a little square. The difference between this and other Italian restaurants is that you can order the any pasta with any sauce you like from a very long list. The bowls are just big enough to make you want to eat a sweet as well. Well worth a visit or two.
