“Not sure of authenticity but the best food all trip”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

We went for a week to Funchal and travelled round the whole island of Madeira. This was the first restaurant we actually enjoyed the food at! Not sure about the authenticity - I've never seen black scabbard and banana in any other mexican restaurant lol! but the beans would give Wahaca a run for their money! Great service, great value and enough food to feed the bloke of man vs food!! well cooked, all together perfect tasty meal!

“Good cocktails, service and decor, average food”
Reviewed November 15, 2009

After several days of eating lovely Madeiran food, we fancied a change and decided to give this place a go. The restaurant is in the hotel district, but it was a little tricky to find even with the map. If you ask people on the street they will give you directions.

We thought the decor was interesting and quite cosy, considering it is quite a big place. We arrived at around 7.30pm and the place was very quiet. The list of cocktails was very good and my Pina Colada - one of the best I've ever had. The food was of average quality - edible, but not great, The portions were rather small.

The service was good and helpful like everywhere in Madeira.

I imagine this is more of a drinking place and it probably livens up later in the evening. It would be good for late night drinks and light snacks like nachos, etc., hence the rating of 3 out of 5 as a restaurant.

“A nice change from normale Madeiran fare.”
Reviewed October 2, 2009

This nice little restaurant is easy to miss as it is tucked out of the way a bit, but it is well worth a visit.
The food is well prepared and there is a good variety, at very reasonable prices. Be careful if you order a starter as some of these are so large that you may not be able to finish your main course.
