We are long-term visitors to Funchal and were directed to this restaurant by a guy handing out leaflets near the port. He claimed it had only been re-opened the week before under new management. The four of us gave it a try and were not disappointed. There were only three staff in total at the time but the chef did an excellent job with a broad madeiran-style menu and we all ordered different items. Service was good and pricing below what we expected. The view through the floor to ceiling '360 degree' windows was superb. Currently the Forte is our favourite restaurant for quality and value but the Molhe also has excellent food and we will return. It remains to be seen whether the owners market this well-hidden restaurant well to keep it well patronised. To get to the restaurant go to the left of the first tunnel at the 'Rock' in the liner port and go up two lifts to the top. Signage is currently non-existent.
