A short stay for a long weekedn for my 10th wedding anniversary. Great junior suite, perfect in every way apart from shower which I think because of style of flooring had a slight damp smell, still we had a large bath in the room itself so that was great. We just didnt use the shower.
Hotel laid on fantastic dinner for us to celebrate our anniversary with a private area, an exquisite menu and choice of wines and great service. All whilst looking out over the town from the rooftops on a star lit night. Very romantic which my wife appreciated a lot.
Hotel pool on the roof was excellent, with great staff, service, food and drink during the day. Consierge also soted out transport and restaurant reservations for us and could not have been more helpful. Go there for a romantic weekend or longer. We will definitely be going back but it will be well before another 10 years passes.

I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. The staff went out of their way to provide a great service. The breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel. The rooms were of good size and the beds were amazingly comfortable. We did find the lighting very dim and would recommend taking a torch! We managed with the technology in the room but it wasn't the easiest. The location was excellent, easy walking distance to lots of good restaurants and shops.

Although clearly not a hotel with a branding focuss on kids the staff was great in welcoming hours. From reception desk to restaurant to pool bar. Ever staff member participated in delivering us a perfect holiday nd made us feel like we were customers for years. Special kudos to the maitre of the restaurant and housekeeping who found my sunglasses and mailed them back to me.

This hotel is in a great location, only minutes from Funchal town centre, marina, bars, shopping and cathedral. Good shopping mall underneath the hotel, The Dolce Vita centre, with a wide range of shops to choose from and a supermarket.

The hotel was of very high standards, excellent fixtures and fittings, some nice designs, very contemporary. The room had a openplan massive big bath with an extra shower room with an excellent rain shower and we got clean sheets and towels every day. In the evenings they had a turndown service, which was a nice touch, once again providing us with clean towels, slippers and mats left at the side of the bed and sweets/chocolates left on our pillow. The maids were so discreet you just never saw them, but the work got done almost behind closed doors.

The pool area had a lovely infinity pool that wasn't very big, but big enough for swimming and there was a nice jacuzzi. The 360deg rooftop bar had very efficient staff, especially Gilberto and Paulo, both very attentive and professional at all times, nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Had some nice lunches in the restaurant, the Sushi was delicious. Could do with a few more sunbeds round the pool as there was only enough to serve 40, so if everybody staying at the hotel wanted a bed there would't have been enough.

The breakfasts were great, there was everything. Cereals, yoghurts. fruit, fresh pastries and bread, selection meats, cheeses, smoked salmon and Full A la carte cooked breakfast, that you ordered and was brought to the table. You could even have champagne if you wanted!!
I looked forward to this every morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.

A few restaurants that we tried whilst staying in Funchal which desrve a mention are Armazem do Sal, L'Osteria, Olives, Dos Combatentes and a couple we went to down on the marina(down below, near the boats).

Would definately recommend this hotel!!!

Great location in the City. Good shopping below in the Dolce Vita Centre. Fantastic choice of restaurants in the City, in particular Olives, Armazem do Sal, Dos Combatentes and L'Osteria - see seperate reviews. UVA restaurant in the hotel worth a visit too though a little more expensive. Every single member of staff was exceptionally helpful & friendly. We highly recommend this hotel and will return !

Extremely well appointed, comfortable hotel in a great location. 5 minutes from the marina, cathedral, president's residence etc. Great choice of restaurants nearby including brilliant Chega do Saudade. Staff friendly, professional and stylish. Rooftop bar and pool perfect at all times of day. Yes it's a bit unusual in styling and you have to be prepared to go with the themed design and technology - but why not?
Would use for business (although this time just pleasure)
