“Lots and lots of meat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

As the name suggests this is a meat place. On our first visit we both had the sliced beef (picanha steak). From long spits with six big chunks the outer slices very cut and served with a choice of additions at a reasonable price. The waiters kept coming back again and again and you could eat until you had to be rolled out of the restaurant. On our second visit we had a more ordinary main course. Both meals were very good. The charcoal grilled pineapple with cinnamon, a free dessert, was delicious. The place has a decent choice of wines, but really nothing out of the ordinary (but avoid the nondescript one called "sexy"). Varietal wines, which can be very good in Portugal, were not to be found on the wine list. The service was good and friendly -- far above the average. You should absolutely give it a try. Remember to book in advance.

“Does what it says on the tin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

Booked this place on the strength of the other reviews and wasn't disappointed. I didn't go for the speciality (picanha steak) but regretted it when I seen other customers getting it, it looked amazing. I just had a rump steak with peppercorn sauce. Cooked exactly how I wanted it and very succulent, yum! My fiancé went for the ham hock, also delicious.

To sum up excellent quality food for a reasonable price.

“Nothing special”

Food was ok but nothing particularly special. Think we were expecting more from it as it was rated no 6 at the time of writing this review.

“Surprisingly good even for a non meat eater!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We were in Madeira to celebrate my partners birthday so it was his choice to go to Beef & Wines. I was not over keen as a non meat eater.howeve we had a fantastic time the atmosphere is lovely. My partner had a beautifully cooked steak with Brie and I had the sautéed prawns both dishes were tasty and plentiful. The free sides are numerous and never ending! The choice of wines was overwhelming so we ended up with a very acceptable bottle of 'sexy' white from the smaller menu. We couldn't manage desserts but finished our meal with a nice glass of port.
Definitely give this restaurant a try whatever your food preference!

“Novelty decor! ”

Restaurant nice. Staff friendly. Food ok but not as good value for money as other restaurants in Funchal. Over priced like the wine.
