My wife and I are quite particular about our food and often have very specific requests like ...no peppers in the salad...our requests were taken in their stride and the food was very well presented. I love chicken Kiev and theirs is very good indeed.... No pink chicken here
The complimentary brandy or liquer is a nice touch as well.

Don't be put off by the outside of this restaurant. The food, service and wine is excellent.
The steaks are the best on the island, and as they are served on the stone, you cook it to your own taste and eat it at your own speed.
We visit here every year, sometimes twice during our holiday.

This is our favorite restautant in Funchal. Your welcomed by a smiling staff and they are eager to comfort you. We have visited the island for the last 10 years, and we eat at Solar da Ajuda at least 50% of our dinners during our stay. The food is excellent - especially the ESPADA, which is served in a delicious way. This restaurant must be a must for everyone visiting Madeira. The cosy atmosphere brings the guests closer, and we often experience talking to nearly everyone at the neighbour tables. The prices are favorable as well.
Unfortunately, their branch in the Formosa-area has not got the same style and warmth as the original.

The place really does not look very inviting, but the food was so good, that already when dining there the first time, we decided to eat there once more before going home!

We had the steak on stone, that was so tender and tasteful and the sauces were so brilliant that we decided to skip the starters on our second visit, so we could eat a bigger steak :-)

The service is good and efficient.

I vist Madeira twice a year, and for the last three years have eaten at least twice a week at this restaurant, I have never eaten a better steak than the steak served here. Try you won't be disappointed
